RE: Some 2017 Predictions for Our Tribe Athletics
I do hope for a very competitive QB race between all of the QBs on our roster. Such a competition will surely make everyone better. If Shon does earn the starting job as a freshman, I have no doubt that he can excel right away, despite the adjustment to the size/athleticism of college athletes and the learning curve associated with learning a larger playbook. Several recent FBS/FCS freshman QB's have had successful first year campaigns and probably don't possess the intellect that Shon has, so I'm willing to bet he can learn whatever is thrown at him rather quickly.

I have no doubt that Shon is physically ready to play college football. It's the other stuff that takes time, and quite frankly requires game experience. Spending a year running the scout team and redshirting isn't the worst thing that could happen.

We will know right away in August about the future of Rotger and Battle. If either one is first team then it's their job to win in preseason. I'm excited that we have so many good options at QB going forward. Injuries do happen.......

Don't disagree about the mental side of the game. This is where Mitchell will gain valuable knowledge this spring. I don't know the kid. If you know him and say he's physically ready I can't argue that. A redshirt year could be the best thing for him and the program. I know he put up crazy numbers in HS, but as you said the defenses are a bit more complicated to read.

I trust that the coaches will evaluate each player and go with the one who gives the team the best shot at winning right away.

Shon's team ran five wide on a lot of plays and he either found a receiver right away on his read or improvised and scrambled to give receivers more chance to get open or he would just run the ball. Their offense reminded me of what ODU ran when they had Taylor Heineke. It was all about getting one on one match ups. Not going to happen in the CAA. His arm is very accurate and strong and he can put touch on his throws.

Go look at his hudl page and you can see highlights from every game. Of course he's not showing the bad plays, but you will see what I'm talking about. If you want more reasonable performance, go look at the state championship game against Westfield.
