Hofstra
The Tribe's northeast swing takes them to Hofstra for Monday night's game.
The Pride had W&M's number last season, going 3-0 against W&M -- winning 91-63 at Hofstra, 86-80 in Williamsburg and 70-67 in the CAA Tournament semi's.
Hofstra boasts the NCAA's top rebounder in Rokas Gustys. The 6-9, 260 lb Lithuanian junior is among the best mid-major big man in the country. He was a matchup nightmare for Shaver last season, with 18 points & 11 rebounds in his first clash with the Tribe, 25 points & 15 boards in the second, and then another 13 rebounds at the CAA tourney to send W&M packing. Hofstra coach Bill Coen calls Gustys "freakishly strong", and Shaver called him "impossible to move". This season, the big Lithuanian has shown a tendency to get in foul trouble, so look for the Tribe to work the ball inside early on offense.

I think this is a much more winnable game than Northeastern. That being said, if we show the same effort we did Saturday, this will be another long game...

I have no idea what to expect this afternoon as to which W&M team will show up.

Certainly hope the old Omar shows up!

RE: Hofstra
Gustys is definitely the focus of this year's Hofstra team, but Green was the one we couldn't stop last year. Really wish we had Seacat for this one because he was our best big man against Gustys (maybe small sample size) last year.

Here's the perfect chance for Knight bring out his progress report. It's on him down low. As we all know "It's a paint game!".

RE: Hofstra
Gustys is shooting right around 20% from the line and he goes to the line a lot. Our strategy should be to take it to him and make him play defense and foul him on the offensive end every time he goes up for a basket. Use the whole bench if we have to.

Pemberton is the focus of their offense this year.

If the offense is not running through the post and going at Gustys, we are doing something wrong today.

Hofstra's final possession in the women's game looked a lot like WM's late game straegy of jack up a contested three with 2 seconds left...

We have no answer for Gustys on defense but our bigs may be too quick for him down low. Feed them the ball!
