RE: CAA / KenPom Rankings
I have no idea why we would be ranked ahead of Hofstra, Towson, or Elon based on results thus far

KenPom is all numbers, and when teams are within 10-20 of each other, they're basically the same. The ratings mean more once you start getting more common opponents, too.

Because 3 of our 6 losses are against teams in the top 50 and a road win against someone in the top 100.

Other than Charleston and Northeastern, no one else in the CAA has played much power OOC.

Elon has played some decent teams (and some awful ones). Having seen them play twice now, I think they've got a pretty good squad that could make some noise by the end of the year.

JMU about to be 2-0 in the league up by nearly 30 on Towson. And Northeastern rallies to win in overtime. Still, despite those results, a good day for the Tribe thanks to Daniel Dixon!

I know all the conference games count the same...but man, 1-1 just feels light years better than being 0-2. Huge win.

The CAA did us no favors in scheduling. 4 of the first six on the road at Northeastern, Hofstra, UNCW, and Charleston. Brutal.

On a positive note, this allows us to gain momentum going into the CAA Tournament with hopeful home victories against top tier teams and gets our long road trips all done during Christmas break!

RE: CAA / KenPom Rankings
Here are the current RPI numbers for the CAA schools (and selected others) for this week:

UNCW - 15
Charleston - 56
Towson - 97 (could have used Towson NOT to lose their first two league games...)
Northeastern - 105
Hofstra - 170
Elon - 171
W&M - 178
Drexel - 225
Delaware - 229
JMU - 336 (could have helped if JMU hadn't WON their first two...)

Others of Interest:
Villanova - 1
Louisville - 10
Duke - 13
Virginia - 16
VCU - 32
Va Tech - 43
Rhode Island - 45
Radford - 109 (Radford??)
ODU - 120
Cent. Michigan - 128
Geo. Mason - 139
Richmond - 180
Liberty - 290
VMI - 322
Hampton - 339 (and, yes, we are their only D-1 win...)

Towson will probably fall out of the Top 100 next week, but there is a chance that Northeastern could move in, so there could still be several more chances for Top 100 wins for CAA teams.

That looks a bit outdated. Live-rpi.com has us at 126. They update as each game concludes, whereas realtimerpi.com and a couple others take a day or so to refresh.

CAA / KenPom Rankings
Realtimerpi and Warrennolan have some real anomalies (ie-Nichols St #69 and Radford #107, both with losing records and poor wins) that I think imply their formula has big issues. All credit to UNCW, but #16 is not realistic.

KenPomeroy appears far more in line across the board with other teams:
UNCW-49
Charleston-82
Northeastern-119
W&M-140
Hofstra-150
Elon-153
Towson-171
JMU-233
Drexel-235
UD-266

RE: CAA / KenPom Rankings
The RPI shown on the NCAA.COM website has the Tribe at #126. Truth be told, while it is fun to track our RPI when things are going good, our RPI is relevant only if we cut down the nets on a glorious March Monday night in North Charleston and our RPI is being used to determine our seeding in the Big Dance.

RE: CAA / KenPom Rankings
teamrankings.com is usually pretty good with their rankings.

Their RPI has W&M at 126

UNCW - 17
Charleston - 45
NE - 92
Towson - 134
Elon - 152
Hofstra - 196

Rest below 200

They also have us as one of the biggest RPI gainers since yesterday, going up 49 spots

RE: CAA / KenPom Rankings
W&M's 4 year streak of having the best offense in the CAA per KenPom is in danger. They're 3rd right now behind Hofstra and UNCW by a not-insignificant distance. Their streak of finishing in the bottom half of the conference defensively is in no such danger at the moment.
