RE: SBC Basketball Action For Wednesday 12-28 to Monday 1-2 Conference Play begins!
As of this afternoon: Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball RPI's:

UTA 25
AState: 35
Louisiana: 112
GaSt: 113
GaSo: 128
Little Rock: 203
USA: 212
Troy: 228
App: 255
Coastal: 262
TxSt: 293
ULM: 295

Four teams in the top 1/3, and GaSo knocking on the door. Also, 7 of the 12 teams have non-losing records against D1 schools out of conference, an important RPI consideration going forward, as that will keep playing conference games from being RPI killers in most cases, as only ULM, Coastal and App had really poor OOC results.

Astate leads ulm 32-26 at half. We've been generally poor to this point. Extremely lucky to be ahead

UTA's RPI will drop during conference play. Just playing and winning games against ULM, Coastal and TxSt will bring down their RPI. One reason I don't like that basketball ends with 2 months of nothing but conference play.

It depends if they win or lose those games. If Both UTA and AState win a bunch of conference games and put up outstanding records, they'll have good RPI's at the end of the year.

Take one loss to one of the bad teams though, and its all over.

Yup, that's my belief too.

The SBC as a whole did enough during non-conference play to keep the top teams going, assuming UTA doesn't do like last year and either drop a stinker on the road or have an injury to a top player.

I will gladly trade b-ball wins against GaSt for football wins...Neither is "supposed" to winning like they are against each other in these sports.

Cajuns' RPI vaulted all the way to 80 after last night's win. All four of their OOC opponents won and the Cajuns got a road win against a 10-4 team.

You lost to Western Carolina by 5 for goodness sakes. One of the worst teams Ive seen play in the Henderson Center in 5-7 years. This doesn't lead me to believe that Jim Fox will ever get you to a competitive program. This is the same team that Marshall beat by 35 just 4 games beforehand. And both Appy State and Marshall had HC changes at the same time. And I bet we had just as much hot garbage players as Appy.

Fox went 12-17 his 1st year, 9-22 last year and you are sitting at 5-8 this year and honestly I can't see but maybe 3-5 more wins for you this year. That means his record after 3 years will look something like 24-52 to 26-50 at the end of the regular season.

Appy States 5 wins:
Exhibition
Methodist (NAIA)

Regular Season
Warren Wilson (USCAA)
Hartford (America East)
Montreat (NAIA)
James Madison (CAA)
Hampton (MEAC)

The 3 DI wins Appy have are a combined 8-29 against DI schools (Hartford 5-9, JMU 2-10 and Hampton 1-10).

Is Marshall trying to move up to the Sun Belt? If not, why do you take such an interest in SBC basketball?

Proud AARP member Anthony Livingston just made the game-winning three in overtime for Chris Beard's Texas Tech to beat West Virginia.

Yeah, he left pretty much immediately after the end of the season.

I think many forget that our basketball program was a toxic mess last year. The Coaching staff was toxic, the players were toxic, and the fans were toxic. Livingston left immediately. Several other players contemplated transferring, but McCasland managed to convince them that the program could be rebuild.
