Luke Perry was so influential that people started wearing their hair and dressing like his character Dylan McKay.

Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The Grim Reaper is going to have to wait on him though - I fully expect the Jeopardy host to battle through this.
Pretty amazing speech by him today in announcing the news.

He was Dr. X during his stent with the AWA in the mid 60s to early 70s. For much of the 70s and early 80s people still used to wear Dr. X masks and t-shirts at live wrestling events.
He was 88 years old. His death, while a tragedy, was a consequence of old age. We're starting to see a lot of the older guys die off.

I watched him in Hooper opposite of Burt Reynolds, Damnation Alley opposite George Prepard and a Boy and His dog opposite a dog. Never was a fan of Airwolf.
Beverly Hills 90210 star, Jed allen dead 84. He started out on daytime soaps, but best remember as Marlena's love interests Don Craig, and on General Hospital as Edward Quartermaine.
Linda Jansen. singer of The Angels dead at 74.
Julia Ruth Stevens, daughter of legend MLB player Babe Ruth, dead at 102.
Freeda Foreman, daughter of professional boxer, George Foreman, dead at 42.
Hal Blaine, the main drummer from The Wrecking Crew, dies at age 90. Many people have described him as the greatest drummer of all time. I'm not sure I can go that far, but he's probably played the drums on more hits than anyone else in rock & roll history. If you've never seen The Wrecking Crew documentary, it's a really cool movie on that legendary group of studio musicians (Blaine supposedly coined the name of their group). Blaine played the drums on more than 140 top-40 hits and 40 #1 songs in the 1960's and 1970's. I think the documentary is still on Netflix and Hulu, and is quite good for music fans.
Oh, man. Knew this one was coming some day. So glad I got to hang out with him and his band a coupla times in various cities years ago. learned so much from this guy. Will be most sorely missed. heckuva life he had. Legend. Will always be remembered and played forever. R.I.P., dude:

RIP John Kilzer. One of my favorite singers/musicians from around the time my wife and I met and fell in love. To a great degree with this song in the background. Upon news of his death this past week, I learned also.... that he was a star Memphis State basketball player, and had a (masters or Dr. in English, I'm not sure which) and was an English professor @ then Memphis State when he got his first recording contract.
One of his more "rockin'" tunes:

Quote:Ransom Joseph ‘Randy’ Jackson Jr., an all-star third baseman with the Chicago Cubs in the mid-1950s and the last Brooklyn Dodger to hit a home run, died at home in Athens, Georgia Wednesday after a brief illness, according to a family friend. He was 93 years old.
Nicknamed “Handsome Ransom,” Jackson played for the Cubs from 1950-55 and in 1959. He also spent two-plus years with the Dodgers in Brooklyn and Los Angeles and parts of 1958 and 1959 with the Cleveland Indians. Over 10 big-league seasons, the third baseman batted .261 with 103 home runs. He was the oldest living Los Angeles Dodger at the time of his death.

Cofer's kid plays for Florida State and he died during their first NCAA tournament game. Selfishly for bracket reasons, I need Cofer to play today (although if he wants to go home for his dad's funeral, I understand - and to be honest, my bracket is pretty much toast anyway).
