I'm 90% certain that Kirsch is out.

90% huh? Are you his doctor? I don't have any inside info about his condition, however, given that the NC is 3 weeks away, and that Kirsch hasn't played in the last 2 games, it must be one heck of an injury if it's taking longer than 5-6 weeks to heal.

Unfortunately high-ankle sprains can be really nasty and take a long time to recover from. Depends on the severity of course but several months isn't uncommon. But it's probably still too early to know what the condition will be three weeks from now. Even if it's healed enough, the inability to practice might be the deciding factor.

And he re-hurt it when he tried to play..... there didn't seem to be a lot of optimism that he would be ready when discussed post game in Fargo.

Yes. Most boring state in the union. And I've been to Delaware.

Anyway, this couldn't have unfolded better for us. Did we really want our (admittedly much improved) secondary to face EWU's passing game? YSU is playing well, even if they're lucky. You don't get this far without being good. But when this started, if we'd have been told we'd beat NDSU by 10 and then face an unseeded team in the final, we'd have all taken it. It's great to be the four seed when 1-3 have all lost.

I think Mike Houston will have the guys ready. They haven't taken anyone lightly all year.

I did! SHSU was a passing team and they were shut out for 3.5 quarters. It is easy to say, take the unseeded team but I like saying that we beat the #1 seed at their place and then the #2 in NC. Also got to say you beat a team that crushed UR 38-0.

YSU is the #19 total defense, EWU is #88. YSU has only given up 33 TDs in 15 games (Nova 25 in 12 games, NDSU 27 in 14 games) while EWU has given up 49 in 14 games. YSU scoring defense is #7 and EWU is #51. Sure EWU is scoring 14 points more (averaging 42 versus YSU 28) but I'll take an offense versus offense game given how our defense has stepped up.

But, its doesn't f'ing matter who we play, we going to lock the d@mn gates.

Massey finally updated. JMU are 4 point favorites with a 64% chance of winning. 35-31 predicted score.

I've now seen JMU as a 3-5 point favorite. I'm surprised it isn't higher than that.

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
It looks like if we can shut down YSU's running game, which it seems like we've been able to do fairly well this year, we should be good to go. If we bring our A game and play to our known potential, there's no way JMU isn't lifting that trophy by 3pm CST on January 7th.

I'd prefer 31-21

I get that, but I want the easiest game possible. This isn't about padding our resume; all that's required is the W. YSU is only here because they're lucky--crazy catch with time expired. They're good, but EWU wins that game 9 times out of 10.

RE: JMU vs YSU Championship Game
i think I'd rather take our chances against a good but slightly less efficient running game and a lower end passing attack with YSU, then a top passing attack and two payton award finalists. Cooper Kupp is a projected 2nd rounder and it looked like he could catch pretty much everything thrown his way.

I'd be sweating this more if we were facing the Eagles.

The only teams that I would sweat against us playing right now are Alabama and Clemson.

I hear ya, but I also don't think there is a big difference in those schools. Sure, YSU won on a lucky 4 yard catch but EWU had there own big plays including a 80ish yard TD. Admittedly I didn't watch the entire game but they seemed to be two evenly matched teams. Given what I believe were two fairly matched opponents, I'll take the one that "pads the resume". I guess the resume doesn't matter though when you are the boss though.

Appreciate the link. Just from a human interest point of view, wanting him to have the opportunity to finish his college career on a high note, it would be real shame if he doesn't get to play in the NC game.

In the words of Mickey Matthews when interviewed post-game in Chatty as to what his secret to winning the game was, the Mick replied, "We just thought we were better than them." I predicted a double-digit win against the Bison. I think we beat the flightless birds 37-20.... at least! It could be ugly.

I agree.

Very ugly, if field conditions let Schor pass, receivers run their typical routes, and Khalid to make his dipsy-doodle cuts.

I predicted Youngstown would beat EWU. Don't take them for granted. They are a hard nosed group with a good running game. It will be a strong test. They are similar to our 2004 team.
