Are we going by the way refs called games in 2006 or 2016? Totally different landscape. Coach Brownell ran his team perfectly for his era. Coach Keatts is running his team perfectly for today's game. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

Ehh, i don't think that's accurate. Brownell still runs that game today, as does COC with success.

The college game can still be coached with contact in mind but the NBA has changed into a non contact sport for the most part-especially on the perimeter.
Its easy to forget just how good Blizzard was with the years passing by but make no mistake he was the best by far the to ever play at UNCW-IMO. Nobody on this team could match up with him for 40 minutes, the guy was a fitness freak and seemed to never get tired. He was the man that other teams had to game plan for and if they didn't have a plan it was gonna be a long day for the bad guys.

Flemmings....You have to game plan for him. He'll go 40 mins., rebound, score, block shots, defend. He and Blizzard would be first team UNCW all time.

After a year and 11 games he's on the all time list? I like him, a ton, but really?

Absolutely. He has one of the most complete games I've seen from a player at UNCW. Wish he would have been here 4 years, but....

Flemmings is a great talent but not in the same class as Blizzard or even close to it. He is not a plus defender, passer or ball handler. He can flat score and is a good rebounder for a kid his size. I think Ed Williams would be a great matchup for Flemmings. Blizzard came in a true freshman killing it right from day one in the CAA-when the CAA was a much different and better conference. I like Flemmings but there is no way he is even in the discussion with Blizzard.

I haven't seen Flemmings enough to completely agree with Mullet here, but this ^ is my general take on their respective legacies. That said, the door is still open, and if this season turns into something truly special, he could be remembered as one of the greats. How many conference POY awards have we taken home?

Blizzard won back to back and All CAA for 4 years. I think he is the only winner from UNCW. That alone sets him apart from any other player and the CAA was a much tougher conference. Flemmings has a chance to be POY this season but he's not a lock to even have the beat year on his own team.

Keatts doesn't have a game plan that emphasizes individuals, so it's more difficult to have that one outstanding player. It's a problem Louisville has faced trying to land top prospects.

I get it with Louisville and UNCW but Blizzard was just a better player and its not close. When you are a marked man like he was still put up the numbers playing for Wainwright it says a lot about good he was. Flemmings on that team would be maybe the 3 rd option,I think Callahan was better as well.
