stAte sightings
I have been traveling for work recently in Arkansas and Missouri. I drove into Fort Smith from Tulsa and the second I got into town I saw a giant stAte sticker on the back window of a car. It made me happy to see that before any Piggy stuff.

Then I was in Sikeston, MO and saw more stAte stickers on cars. I know it's only a couple hours from Jonesboro but still nice to keep seeing stAte stuff and nothing else.

10 years ago, that wouldn't have been the case. Now its pretty routine. Our fanbase has grown and has more of a state wide presence, but also kudos to the university and its marketing department. Lots more to choose from and a lot more coverage and exposure.

When I lived in north Atlanta I saw GS stuff everywhere and I came across a lot of App stickers too and maybe Ga State every now and then if I travelled closer to downtown.

The farther you get away from Jonesboro, the more people you find willing to put out there where they graduated.

It sort of feels like that we sort of have to band together when we are outside our home base.

Best part for me is that I get asked all the time if I went to school there. Nope. That fries their noodle here in Little Rock. They just think if you didn't go there you have to be a fan of that other FBS school. That just encourages me to fly the flag a little higher.

Despite the number of FBS schools you don't see a great variety of representation here. In Central Texas it's mostly UT, A&M, TXST, Baylor, and Tech. 10 years ago it would probably only be UT, A&M, and Tech. Rarely see other G5s and TCU repped here. Heck at the school I work at we have a university logos posted up and pictures of all the teachers that went to various schools. Fittingly, TXST has the most, but what do most of these other TXST teachers wear on college days? UT stuff...

Whats the dynamic like in Alabama or LA?

In Louisiana, LSU is the dominate program and brand, especially since they are the only P5 school in the state. However, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, being the 2nd largest University in the State, have made significant progress in Louisiana over the past years, and will continue to do so. Other than LSU, I'd say Louisiana and then LA Tech would be #2 & #3 in the state. Although the other schools in the state will never admit it! HaHaHa!

The Sikeston sighting may have been my great aunt and great uncle. My uncle was an offensive lineman for Arkansas State from '53-'56 I believe it was. He played with the team in the Tangerine Bowl in '54.
Also, I hate that Tulsa to Fort Smith drive.

Cabot is a bedroom community for Little Rock. Quite a few AState alums there and with the juco just up the road in Beebe that helps as well.

I see more stAte stuff in and around central AR than ever these days and it has been that ways for several years. Our parking deck has a ton of license plates and decals on cars and I see them all around town. We are a long ways from catching that other school but we are a clear #2 even in central AR where UALR and UCA reside.
