St. Joes
Potentially the last game of the series for some period of time (my pure guess unless there is future games already scheduled). Home game after exams. DAC better be packed again. Should be a great environment for some entertainment.

As far as the game goes, St Joes has pretty much beaten who they should have (Toledo, Columbia, Loyola-Illinois) and lost to who they should have (Ole Miss, NC State, Temple, Nova). They were competitive in their losses minus Nova, who frankly have not been kind to anyone yet this year, which means they are battle tested for close games. History in this series says it will be a close loss. Our record against St. Joes is not good. This is definitely a different team than last year and Joes top scoring option has been Shavar Newkirk. We held him last year to 1-6 shooting and likely need to lock him down again if we wish to have much of a chance. Neither of these teams will be competing for their respective conference titles this season, but should be a fun game nonetheless. Lets hope we keep working on limiting turnovers and continue to find rotations that work. With St Joes lack of size, this game screams of a big night for Rodney, so hopefully Rodney can avoid foul trouble and be a pest on the low block

Pointless prediction:
St Joes: 75
Drexel: 70

This game should be a good game to test our backcourt. St Joes does not have size, but they are athletic and tenacious. It will be interesting to see how Iceman and Lee fare against their guards. I am expecting Miles and Rodney to have big games. Facing a less than usually talented St Joes team and coming home in front a good crowd I feel good about the boys pulling off the minor upset. Drexel 74 St Joes 71.

Despite the lack of size at St. Joes, I still dont think this game leans in our favor. I think the Hawks athleticism and defense will still win out. Cant count on 7 - 3s from Iceman every time out. This team will be inconsistent, as they are learning and growing up, and this game just seems like one where we make a lot of mistakes.

I'm not convinced that this will end our annual series with them. Martelli loves the City games, and Spiker is really embracing the Drexel history (latest: bringing in Jim Rullo this week... awesome.) I think they find a way to keep it going, home and home.

I really do not see us winning either but I am being optimistic we can keep it close. Also, if we do continue the series I think many of us will be ecstatic and it is a nice game for both programs. I am basing my guess on history which before Bruiser showed up was not a good one. I hope I am wrong and we can keep it on the schedule as a home and home. I would even be a fan of it going back to being the day before Thanksgiving, though I understand no game should be in that time slot if you plan on having anyone actually show up.

RE: St. Joes
I hate to look too far ahead but with a week off, it was hard not too. They have 4 more D-I OOC games, including St. Joe. I think they can win 2 of them, maybe even 3. Quinnipiac, Penn and Rider. To be 6-6 going into the conference schedule would be a nice start. I know its a weak schedule, but I'd be thrilled sitting at 6-6 on New Year's eve. From there, I can't see why we can't go .500 in the CAA also. Other than the top 4 (UNCW, Towson, Charleston, Elon) we should be able to at least split with the others. Can't say enough how intriguing this season is/will be. 15-15 going into the Tourney in Charleston? Why not?

Nice start? It would be fantastic. I have a hard time believing any drexel fans can be unhappy with the season thus far. Exciting times.

RE: St. Joes
When I came to Drexel in 1991, SJU was the only B5 team to play Drexel regularly. SJU even came to the DAC in 92-93. They were also the only B5 team to play Drexel during the Malik Rose era, other than when they faced Temple in the NCAA Tournament. The Battle of 33rd Street didn't begin until after Malik graduated. Also, the DAC is now much less of a crappy little gym and now more of a high quality boutique arena. The facilities are much nicer now. Also, now that the students are further away from the court, there's less of a home court advantage for Drexel. Additionally, there's basically zero travel costs for both teams with a home and home. So considering all of these factors, I can't see why they wouldn't continue to play Drexel every year.

You're right Dan. 6-6 would be fantastic. I just didn't want to get too carried away, knowing the strength (weakness) of the schedule. But, yeah, these are exciting times. It's been a while since I've invested in every game like I have this year, so even if its 5-7, no unhappiness at all. Exciting times, indeed.

Granted, I haven't been to the DAC yet this year, but... "high quality boutique arena"? Really? If so, great, but, that's setting my expectations too high as I look forward to going to tomorrow's game.

The one thing that I'm still waiting to see is recruiting is how Spiker recruits. Bruiser and staff did recruit well Fouch, Frantz, Samme, Lee etc.

Judging on his first two recruits over their first eight games, I would say he's 2 for 2. Lee's numbers are better than any of those guys over their first eight games and Kari's would match up well I think. Let's hope the numbers keep up with those guys for four years. You have to give Spiker credit for finding those two guys late-year recruitment leftovers.

They've really done a great job thus far. The main level bathrooms are really nice and very large. It's enclosed now, so it looks more like an arena and you don't see the crappy looking corners on TV in the background. And you're still as close to the court as anywhere in the country. It's also air conditioned now, and it doesn't feel hot and cramped like it used to. Also, from what I've been told, the locker rooms are as nice as anywhere else. So based on those factors, I can see what teams are more likely to schedule games here when they may have shied away in the past.

The DAC is not finished though and still has a lot of work to do. The still need new scoreboards and better lighting. But I'll say that I'm not embarrassed by it anymore they way that I used to be.

Crowd looks sparse, especially the students. Would have hoped right after finals there would be enough around and excited over this game.

First media timeout 17-6. Playing very well. Getting open looks from 3 and making them. Rodney is working and being aggressive, which is nice to see.

Forced to play zone due to a lot of fouls piling up. Iceman and Mojica with 2

Tough break at the end with that shot falling. 38-34 up at half. Lots of fouls that will be a story in this one. Moran and Iceman with 3 fouls each. Foul shooting has been very poor led by Rodney. Hopefully we can start moving our feet and reward ourselves with made free throws. 9-16 in the first half just won't cut it. Despite our back against the wall with fouls, it is nice that we led the entire first half and kept finding new ways to keep scoring even with a forced rotation. Green's 5 points was a nice push off of the bench

8 minutes left Mojica fouled out, but he brought it on himself when he picked the early technical in the second half.

Under 8 timeout. 57-54 St Joes. We are losing our composure and making a lot of unforced errors many which are turnovers. Self inflicted mistakes.

Rodney's carrying this team for sure. Up to 27 points and a double-double
