Scarlet Knight Showcase Results
Now that this is over we can see how the 5 teams performed. Overall it was a weak field that we really had a chance to get some wins. We did alright, but we lost to, seemingly, the weakest team of the bunch, which is unfortunate, no matter how Niagara shot that game. Overall I think we have to be content walking out of that "tournament" with 2 wins and some type of confidence, especially this early in the season with the new coach and new system in place.
1. Rutgers (went 4-0)
2. Drexel (went 2-2; lost to Niagara and Rutgers)
3. North Texas (went 2-2 lost to Drexel and Rutgers)
4. Hartford (went 1-3; Beat Niagara)
5. Niagara (went 1-3; Beat Drexel)

That was an interesting tournament. North Texas got all 3 of the "lesser teams" visit Texas. Rutgers got 4 cupcake home games. The other 3 teams went home and away with the other 2. Unique, haven't seen that format before.
Our 2 wins were definitely needed to provide a little confidence. Its a shame we couldn't have beaten Niagara. Its a "shoulda won" game that the boys could have built from a legit 2nd place finish in the event, beating everyone that they should have.
It was a good scheduling move for where this team is at this time.

Absolutely agree with what you said. I am sure it sucks to play in a tournament that eats up 4 OOC games, but it was definitely a smart move for this season.

I think that every team has to play in a so called "tournament" in order to get some extra games. I guess it worked for Drexel that they were able to play in a fake tournament that gave them 1 home game, and a close road game that they could bus to. Agree that it was a good tournament to participate in that wasn't too expensive.
Next year, it's back at the Paradise Jam, where they'll be facing some tougher competition.
