Bowl game question
Would you prefer your school play a 7-5 or 6-6 G5 team like Eastern Michigan, UTSA, UCF or would you want them to play a 5-7 P5 school like Texas, Cal, Arizona state. I just want to know what people value more, a shot at a huge program win like Texas, or a G5 +.500 team?

7-5 G5 team. Actually, I'd prefer a top 25 team regardless of conference. Bowl games are supposed to be a challenge.

I think choosing a 5-7 name brand team, if it actually was a choice, would be all style but no substance.

Give me the 7-5 G5 team. Playing a higher profile team like the ones above might be nice for the added viewership but your chances at a win go down dramatically regardless of the fact that the P5 team is 5-7. A 5-7 team like Cal or AZ St is still much better than most G5 teams that are 7-5 simply because of the talent they are able to recruit. You may as well ask if you would prefer to play a game where you have a legit shot at the win or play a game where you are highly likely to get blown out by 3-4 TDs. And believe me, those P5 teams would be highly motivated to blow out the G5 opponent just to prove they are still the much superior team.

RE: Bowl game question
Any win over a P5 conference team, even if that P5 team is having a down year, builds on a G5 team's reputation. They're called "signature wins", and they're very important to G5 conference programs. If at all possible, I want to play a P5 opponent in a bowl game.

I view it as if you get a shot to play Texas that is huge. It's probably going to be a sellout with much more people watching. A win on that stage could catapult your school into new territory.

Yep.

I don't know what it's like to lose a bowl game, but I know what it's like to win one. Somehow I don't think the experience of a bowl is quite the same if you lose.

And, you can tell recruits you've won XX bowl games.

It's that much better if you say we beat Texas in last years bowl...
