I'm not really sure where Stewart Mandel is getting this from but it would be a great opportunity for the Sun Belt.
I would want that opportunity for sure, but there is a good chance for a blowout.
I agree. I mean if SMU can blow out the Cougars, who knows what the Mountaineers could do?

That's a regular season matchup. Houston in a bowl game is a different story. Though, I just remembered Tom Herman left for Texas.

And you saw how Southern played the week that Fritz knew he was leaving for Tulane. 34-7 loss to Georgia State.
Hopefully WMU gets passed over on the NY6 for Navy and gets Troy in Mobile or Montgomery. App gets a shot at Houston in St. Petersburg. USA is given a bowl based on beating SDSU and Mississippi State, despite playing 2 FCS schools and all eligible Belt teams go bowling.

Not really. I dont think the New Orleans bowl will have Ark State Back to Back years.
you predicted ULL to be bowl eligible. I'm not sure their attendance is down enough for the New Orleans bowl to pass on them. Southern Miss is also eligible. I'd imagine New Orleans is eyeing them as well. I hope you're right, I'm just not seeing it.
I can see a Southern Miss vs ULL match up for sure. New Orleans bowl gets 1st pick and they could pick ULL. I can see them picking ULL over Ark State but not sure they are going to take a team that is 6-6 over a 9-3 or 10-2 Troy team.
Has the New Orleans Bowl ever had a team with 10 wins yet?
MTSU in 09 I believe...

I think they had 9 wins but once they won the bowl they were 10-3

I wouldn't bet on USA winning. I don't know how we got our wins really.
Miss State we won by a missed fg at the end.
San Diego State had a botched snap on the punt, and then got away from giving the ball to their great runner.
Georgia State - not sure how we won.
Nichols went for 2 in the 4th and didn't get it.
Pressbyterian is a bad fcs school.
The sad part is that we could have won every game considering the 2 big OOC games we won.

I think you're view of some of those wins are skewed by the season outcome. We dominated SDSU at the line of scrimmage, that's why Pumphrey couldn't get the ball more. We beat them by 3 possessions, that punt was meaningless.
We also missed two field goals against MSU, along with a few missed assignments to put them in field goal range to begin with.
We beat Geaorgia State because we had better special teams than them, that's part of the game.

Word on C-USA Street is the USM has been offered the New Orleans bowl. I have no links, only the discussion on the C-USA board about this occurring. If ULL wins this week, you could almost guarantee a USM and ULL match-up. I find that appropriate given their records.

Would likely mean Troy won't got to Nola.

Not sure UL will beat ULM. Given the last few weeks, (Troy led down verse stAte / stAte let down vs. UL) I could see ULM beating UL. If that happens, not sure what New Orleans would do. Troy vs. USM rematch? That might happen. I don't think NOLA cares that they have already played, I think they just want tickets sold.
NOLA - Troy or UL vs. USM
DG - Troy or App vs. Toledo
Camelia - stAte vs. Ohio of CMU
Cure - App or USA vs. UCF
Zona - Idaho vs. Colorado St.
if UL wins, USA gets shipped at large unless they blow it this week.

Why do the "experts" that have six SBC teams bowling have App as the one going to LV or St. Petersburg? Geography or they'd rather have a 9-3 vs. 6-6 team?
I'd think the SBC bowls would prefer to keep the better team as they have the first rights to those teams.

You forgot the App letdown versus Troy (really was a classic game that should've been one of this weeks games on ESPN2 for the conference.
At any rate, I disagree with most of what you said. ULM is trending down whereas ULL is trending up. You also don't give much wiggle room in your bowl predictions. UL could go to NOLA, Troy to DG, and USA to Cure leaving App out. However bowls wouldn't leave A 9-3 team out of a bowl in favor of a waiver USA, so something's got to give.

The SBC bowls are likely worried about attendance. If they can get a tighter geographical fit to improve attendance, they will.

Southern miss is headed to Nola
From what I've heard if ULL wins this weekend they are in Nola... if they lose App will be invited

Another albeit unlikely possibility is ULM in a bowl with a possibility of it being in NOLA. For this to happen, ULM must win this week, USA must lose, and Texas must decline a bowl. Then ULM's RPI would be the next highest and we would get a bowl at 5-7. At least gives us a little more to play for. We may have lost to App, but I wouldn't say we are trending down. Viator has done a nice job so far.

2-3 the last five games with the losses being by relatively large margins. I believe ULM as a program is trending up, however, based on this season I believe it will be a tall order to beat ULL.
