Recruiting Services are vastly overated. There are around 400,000 high school seniors playing football in the US. How many of these kids do you think these recruiting "experts" actually watch? Most get their info from coaches conducting clinics. They know next to nothing when it comes to evaluating prospects.

Coastal has 14 commits and would be 5th in the SBC by 247 and 104 nationally.

Maybe. But in general, the teams on Top in 247 tend to finish near the top of the standings. Same for the middle and bottom tier teams. There are a few exceptions every now and then, but the rankings appear at least someone predictive of what tier they finish.

To answer the thread, poorly. UTA just isn't attracting the talent and isn't even appearing on the rankings.

They dont have to watch 400K only the seniors and juniors getting offers from guys that know what they are looking at like DIV I coaching staffs.

An offer from any FBS school is earned and it means you have been evaluated by a DIV I coaching staff and probably numerous ones. Only around 3200 seniors will get an FBS offer not 400K. I am pretty sure a kid that has multiple FBS offers has earned his ranking and is where most of a kids ranking comes from not some guy looking at a few highlights. There is a reason the recruiting rankings look a lot like the real rankings and conference standings. You are dealing with humans so it is not a direct correlation but there is a strong one. Of course there are many other factors that play into a teams success but Nick Saban is not winning jack with team ratings outside the top 25.

I'm about 65-75% certain we will not have a good class. But we may as a fan base still be super excited anyway.

Doing pretty well with just 9 kids listed as committed can really only gain with so few signed. Four three star kids more than us.

I'm expecting us to have a mass exodus after this season. I think we will see 10-15 additional scholarship players leave after the 3 we already lost this season.

Picked up a JUCO DL and a 3 star WR this week. Moved us up to 75th Nationally on 247. One can never tell if that will hold. Have 4 scholarships left to fill.

We've already had 3 commitments since the bell tolled on our 2016 season last night.

Up to 23 total now.

Ranked highest in the league by kind of a large margin right now. Need to maintain through signing day.

I know we have some great facilities and a gorgeous campus but I'm pretty impressed with how well our class is coming along after a 2-10 season.

Then you must be really impressed knowing that it's coming after a 3-9 and a 2-10 season ... .

When you have a coach, are in Texas, and more specifically San Marcos, it shouldn't be tough to pull in players. I think that Texas State has one of the better coaches in that he has a plan for building a foundation and not only building a house of cards with JuCo's and other transfers. It seems he has his 5 year plan and wants to see it through.

In all honesty, if I were Arkansas State and ULL i'd be a little concerned considering that when Texas State is finally coming around there will be east and west divisions.

Considering that we will actually have 85 scholarship players AND all these Freshmen and Sophomores that are getting a bunch of PT will be pretty experienced in 2 years we SHOULD be a threat. Now will we actually be a threat? We'll see....

App got two huge commits today in 3* ATH D'Andre Hicks and 3* RB Daetrich Harrington. App and Texas State now lead the SBC with 8 three star guys a piece, per 247

these were both big pickups, Hicks is projected a safety and probably punt/kickoff returner with 4.3 speed, and Harrington was a top target of ours, had a lot of P5 and GS offers, great day for us.

Hicks is actually a CB and we are waiting on one more. App stocked up on safety types a year ago and with the addition of Huff we're set at that spot.
