So you have applied for the "crazy uncle in the attic" position.....that's fine. Since its now official and the Conference is now using and promoting it that's what really matters.

I'll use Jags, or South as I believe that is what most USA fans want to go by. Am I wrong in that assumption?

RE: New Branding Initiatives
Hopefully not opening a can of worms with this question, but does this change indicate that the powers-that-be at ULM have decided to give up their opposition to referring to the school in Lafayette as Louisiana? At least as far as press coverage for athletics goes?

I hope not. It's more fun to watch them squabble over a name.

The ULM president did not oppose the SBC change. We don't care howt ULM newspapers, fans, or ULM refer to us. It would be better to present a unified front.

LA has taken the high road at game in Lafayette over the last few years on the score board always Cajuns and Warhawks, while at ULM it was ULM and UL Lafayette I've heard.

Why'd ya'll have to have the NCAA take away your rights to your chosen name to host championships? I was fine with Indians, and Red Wolves is great, but it was after all a fall back. I never felt anything but respect for ya'll fight too bad it isn't mutual.

No doubt Ole Miss will at some point have to give up Rebels. There have been malcontents who demand that Ragin'Cajuns is an insult to non cajun in ther area. Lafayette is filled with cajuns, creoles, and les Americans.

I'm pretty sure you had nearly 100% Cajun support during your fight to keep the Indian nickname. That IMO is respect.

I can't speak for every Jags fan but to me, any of those are just fine. In Mobile, I generally just say "South" when talking about the Jags and so do many others. Also, USA is used a lot, maybe even more around here.

You can call everyone what you want, but this should put that name stuff to bed as far as where these schools are headed with their respective brands.

WOW! After all the sh*t ULL and ULM went through over name recognition a few years back, now they decided on this? How funny is that? What a complete waste of time.

It's a good time for everybody who has no actual honest to God interest in the matter to put the issue to rest. Because it has worn out its welcome as a way to gig the Cajuns. Its no longer funny. Its no longer cute. Its no longer witty. Its worn the **** out.

Louisiana, its better for the conference.

That is not what I expected wolfbird to look like. I was picturing him as a straight section with maybe a couple of spherical objects near the base.

Rule #1 in life, the more you hate the nickname the harder it will stick.

Why can't Louisiana Monroe be Louisiana?
