W&M Recruit Just Broke the All-Time VA High School Passing Record
ATTENTION TRIBE SPORTS FANATICS: W&M's TOP RECRUIT (QB Shon Mitchell of the 757's Oscar Smith High School) just SHATTERED the ALL-TIME VIRGINIA HIGH SCHOOL PASSING RECORD, formerly held by PHILLIP SIMS! With the Tigers' Playoff win over Bayfield tonight, Mitchell now has an INSANE 10,740 career passing yards! Shon turned down D-1 offers from Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and others before committing to William & Mary this year. He will be a True Freshman for the Tribe next season. Excited yet? LET'S GO TRIBE!!!

If you want to get caught up on Shon, we profiled him back in July here! LET'S GO TRIBE!!!

RE: W&M Recruit Just Broke the All-Time VA High School Passing Record
If it is true that he's graduating Oscar Smith this semester and entering W&M in January we'll see Shon
in spring practice for the Tribe.

With, apparently, nobody behind Cluley to step in next fall it seems apparent that Mitchell is Jimmye's
chosen one and our great hope the next four seasons.

Shame the 6A State Championship game, if Oscar Smith gets there, is at Hampton instead of Zable, like the smaller divisions. Would have been apropo.

Don't sell current guys short. There will be an open competition in the spring, and apparently you haven't seen Dean Rotger yet.

Our offensive skilled players (Dedmon, Christian, Kujzak, Armstrong, Caskin, etc.) represent our strength for next year, so we just need to have a QB to deliver the rock to them. It could be Mitchell, Battle, Rotger who knows.

You don't think it will be McKee?

It appears that the skilled position players will be solid next year. I'm hoping that the big boys up front will give the O the push they need and that the defense will continue the improvement we saw as the season progressed. I have no idea where special teams are headed.

Barring more injuries, kicking and punting look solid. Hiott was freed from the pooch punt against Richmond and averaged 43.3 yds/punt. Dorka returns so we will have two solid placekickers. Dorka can also punt. Jesse Anderson back to snap.

It's good that the skilled positions should be solid. Hopefully the coverage and blocking will be so as well. It appears to me that they were the weakness this year.
