He gets to start next year for sure...After we get obliterated by Auburn next year a loss to New Hampshire might the straw...

Even if we beat New Hampshire he better hope the conference schedule is back loaded and he has time to figure stuff out. I dont see how he survives a 1-4 or 1-5 start. The minute he gets to 7 losses and he has to go no if ands or buts.

There's no way he last the weekend after Troy game!!!!

Don't let the door hit you

Why in God's name is he starting next year for us? He should be clearing out his office the minute the whistle blows to end the Troy game.

I was joking. We have zero chance of winning this game assuming GS arrives and gets off the bus

Wont help that 20 people will be in the stands. I would have NEVER guessed in Aug that this is where these two teams would be,

Nope. Have a standing 3:30 engagement and that hellmouth is not encouraging me to change plans. But who knows I may end up there at the end with 700 others.

I'm getting really tired of these GS pregame threads where we spend a few days arguing with another fan base over who sucks more.

In the spirit of my general indignation at all things Panther-related, I'd like to at least lob a token "*** you ********* pieces of ****."

That's all I've got. Holding out hope for the Eagles to play good football seems futile, but please don't take my apathy toward our team as any sort of concession that your team/program/school is anything other than the absolute worst.

... I guess I feel a little better now.

I thought I've seen you on GSUfans as well, maybe you don't go over there, but there's a pretty detailed thread explaining that the "buyout" is not as onerous as it sounds. It's not a lump sum, it just means his monthly salary still has to be paid out for the next 3 years and change, plus if he gets another job (he'd be crazy not to as young as he is) the amount we owe monthly is reduced by however much his new paycheck is.

Also to your point, there are a lot of rumblings that a donor or group of donors has already met and decided that they would pony up to cover a substantial portion of those costs if TK and the admin decide to make a change.

There is the negative side of this.... Lets say God has a sense of humor and we win. If you fire a coach after less than a year, yes, you can pound your chests and say winning is expected here. Rah Rah sis boom bah. The reality of that is no coach will come there without one hell of a buyout clause if you can Summers. We're G5s so we can't throw money at a coach to cover that up. Then... any coach that is worth a damn will look at a situation and say:
1. Those weren't even Summers' players
2. They didn't even have a chance to get comfortable under Summers' scheme.
3. Knowing that he is walking into a situation that could be Monken's seniors, Fritz's players, and Summers' freshmen in which he will add his own recruits.

I mean I get it. You want a change. You are not happy about this, and this is below the expectations of a Georgia Southern fan, but the next guy won't exactly be set up for success, and showing you can and will fire a coach in the first season might make your that opening less attractive than it typically is given the current situation. Just my .02.

That's why I'm willing to give Tyson Summers another year but he needs to get rid of the high school coaches he hired as assistants

I am inclined to agree with you. The discontent with the coaches this year is extremely strong however. What I really expect is a number of assistant coach changes particularly offensive coaches. If next year is like this year though I do not rule out Summers being dumped after next year.

Some of this hinges on how much power some of our biggest boosters have

That is a concern, but there's no reason to endure another year of this if we have the capability to resolve it now. Personally, I don't need to see the ship take on anymore water to know what the end result will be.

At the other end of the spectrum, Georgia State has the stigma of their overall record to contend with while hiring a coach. If the next coach can't turn it around, they know it might be their last/only opportunity to be a head coach.

But there is a reason, you could permanently harm the program. Take a job. The guy who hired you raved about you. You enjoyed working under. The boss then leaves for green pastures. New boss comes in. Tells you not to worry. There will only be some slight changes, but you are valuable. Have the best success of your career, and that boss moves on to greener pastures. New boss comes in. Results are different. You've kinda begun to tune him out. We won the division. We won a bowl. What does this guy know? These are the leaders of your team. These guys were Sun Belt champs and bowl winners to the recruits. Now you bring in another new boss. Your upperclassmen wouldn't listen to them unless they came from Alabama.
Now if you have the right guy in line, then yeah, pull the trigger. If you don't... there is no reason to put the program further behind. The boat can take the water. It can't navigate another storm.

I think he gets another year but if our fans/boosters were asked right now well over half would say clean house. If we lose Saturday the screams to clean house just get louder. We are looking at a 4-8 season-- just pitiful with what we returned from last year
