Richmond
From a post on the Richmond message board this past week, FWIW:

"I have listened to Houston, Rocco ... and Laycock ... on AM950 this week and it's pretty easy to tell why two teams are 7-1 and the other is a lot less than 7-1.

Laycock spent most of his time talking about the baseball game he stayed up late to watch the previous night and how he's like to be a the Pro Am Golf Tournament. I'm sure he's a really nice guy but he needs to be put out to pasture.

That said, i hope it takes 5-10 more years before it happens."

I hate losing to Richmond. Period.

Only one way to shut down that kind of talk: win the game.

Is this implying that Danny Rocco didn't watch Game 7 of the World Series? You missed out Danny!

Raise your hand if you give a **** about one Ticks fan criticizing JL. Your hand should not be up. Besides, that post looks familiar. ..it's probably zablenoise under pseudonym.

There will be a ton of Richmond fans there Saturday, all expecting a Spider rout of our guys.

I'm not optimistic about our chances, but just maybe we'll finally play a complete game, skip the special team mistakes, and send them all home miserable.

Also a chance to possibly knock Richmond out of a home playoff game and certainly a second one.

One Tribe. One Family.

You caught me. The quote is actually direct pull from my upcoming Jimmye Laycock fan fiction An Extra E for Excellence

RE: Richmond
If I know anything about this year in college football, nothing is guaranteed. This last weekend at all levels, teams that were not supposed to win did. Each win had an immediate impact on the post season.

On paper and probably on the training room sign in sheet WM has no right believing that they can win this game. Well I didn't think I would see WM losing the Elon, then seeing that URI (of all teams) blew out Elon. Against Stony Brook, a team the blew out Richmond, I didn't think WM, with the players injured or out, would stand a chance. So, for everyone who thinks the Spiders will step on the field and not get a fight, think again. It will take a perfect game, and we are due.

Saturday will be the last game ever for 20-30 student athletes. Many of them will play their hearts out and some may not even play.

This season sucked on so many levels, but let's support the seniors (and redshirt juniors) who will graduate and go on to do better things for themselves and their families.

This could be a redemption game for Cluley. I expect him to play well.

Cluley has been playing better. He has cut down on errant high throws and has been making better decisions.

I am not sure which defense will show up on Saturday. Special team plays will be important.

Anyway, our thanks to all of our student athletes for playing hard all year. We all had high hopes, but that's why you play the game.

Hmm... after reading some of the UR thread I have to wonder I'm sitting with my brother (UR grad) and sister-in-law (W&M grad) on the W&M side. I wonder if he has a handle of MooreHall1973. 1973-74 would have been his freshman year @ UR.

Will the new concession areas be selling any Gas X or XXXL red "Capital Cup" shirts for the visiting fans?

Student support was very good for first three games with stands either full or almost full, horrible
for the last game.

My hope is that the students do show up. Forecast 68-70 degrees, sunny, last game.

Student attendance is an issue throughout the country. While I am disappointed with our student participation, Stony Brook and Towson attendance was embarrassing.
