22 steals is a Tribe record.

This was against a DIII team which was in reality a scrimmage ....

RE: Bridgewater
It was a good warmup game before we play Louiville. I think we could have scored 120 if we wanted to, but it was not necessary.

This team will definitely compete for a CAA championship. Will this be the year we make it to the dance? I sure hope so.

RE: Bridgewater
I disagree with this completely on the part about being way above our punching weight. We're going to play Louisville and Duke over the next week. That WILL give us exactly a preview of what we've got. Those games better not be laughers. Sure, we're not in their class, but we're supposed to be a good program this year. I want to see us play hard in both games and lose by around 20 in each. Anything more than that would be great. Worse outcomes or looking scared will tell me what kind of players we have.

Bridgewater has decent to good high school players on their roster. None were recruited by D1 programs and weren't good enough to prep. It's a completely different class of players.

Louisville will take us lightly, but Duke won't.

1) Our first 4 games are way above or way below our punching weight and that limits how much we can glean from them.

RE: Bridgewater
Great student support yesterday and the rest of the crowd of a decent 2400 for Bridgewater
very supportive and into it.

Hope we have as many students for the football game next Saturday as we had in Kaplan yesterday.

By the way, in addition to the team record 22 steals we held BWater to 0 for 16 from the three-point line. I know it's only BWater but we've played lots of Div III schools before and never came close to 22 steals.

The year after I graduated we beat Roanoke College on a last second shot and I was thrilled. Four years later we were in NIT.

RE: Bridgewater
I was encouraged because we handled a D-3 school the way a good D-1 school should handle a D-3 school. That has not always been the case.

I also agree with those that think we will be able to get a fairly clear read on the toughness and talent of this year's squad in about a week. Win or lose is not the most important thing in this slate of games, but do we play tough, do we back down, do we go in thinking we belong...and then show it...and do we also make sure to take care of a Presbyterian team that we should beat...that has also not always been the case.

There is a lot to get excited about on offense this year, but to be a Championship team, we have to also be good on defense. Two good tests of that coming up in the next 10 days.

Go Tribe. #allthewaytotheNCAA

It is encouraging that we can go about 10 deep. This will allow us to play a good defense for 40 minutes.

We'll be in Durham too. Maybe see you down there.

Regarding Bridgewater (my second favorite team!), the only thing that concerned me was Tony's comment praising our effort in the game and stating that we haven't been a team that practices hard every day. It's in areas like that where TT might just be irreplaceable for us.

But whatever, it's on now! Can't wait for Louisville!
