Read the article Fit. Nothing about the white uneducated voter. More about the underpinnings of the modern conservative movement.

Interesting grouping (and what would he call Christie-non-compassionate conservatism?)
"....In addition, and importantly, Kesler noted that the other strains of conservatism were presented to the voters and found wanting: “To abstain in 2016, in hopes of stimulating a recovery of full-throated conservatism in 2020, is sheer desperation, ignoring the weaknesses in the multiple forms of doctrinaire conservatism on offer in this cycle: libertarianism (Paul), social conservatism (Huckabee, Santorum, Carson, Jindal), compassionate conservatism (Bush, Kasich), ‘reform’ (Rubio), neoconservative foreign policy (Graham), self-styled ‘true’ conservatism (Cruz). None succeeding in capturing the Republican imagination...."

I would probably put Perry in "true" conservatism, Walker in "reform," Fiorinia with Bush and Kasich and Pataki as a moderate.

What's crazy to me is the chameleon Kasich has become. When he came on the scene in 2008 he was the consequential tea party guy. He's morphed into this compassionate conservative. He had dismal approval ratings early and morphed and people forgot about what he did early. He's a political animal and he read Ohio tea leaves well from 2012-2015. I've seen him stumble here in 2016 though. I think he's forgot his base.
I will follow his career with great interest from here on out just out of curiosity sake.

I could see him flipping like Crist did in Fl though. He sounds so pragmatic now and this is coming from a guy who he screwed over in pension reforms to balance the budget.

I use to like him when he was a congressman then he went all Tea Party for a couple years and then came back to the old Kasich. I think he felt like he wasn't being true to himself.

When I think I'm right, nothing bothers me. Believe me.
