Rollie Massimino brings his team to the DAC
Something that would have seemed impossible 25 years ago happens tonight as Rollie Massimino brings his team to the DAC for an exhibition game.

Here's a link to the official preview:
http://drexeldragons.com/news/2016/10/26...night.aspx

Some takeaways from that write up:
Major appears healthy
Kirk Lee and Kari Jonsson expect to see immediate playing time at the guard positions. I expected this from Lee but it is nice to see that a fairly late, unheralded recruit is expected to contribute right away.

It looks like there is no live video or audio, so I guess I'll be relying on reports to see what happen.

I will be at the game and I will give an update. Is there anything specific anyone wants me to look for? I will be focusing on the starting lineup/minutes and how the new scheme looks. From what I heard Major will be the backup point guard for Lee and Kari and Green will be the firsts off the bench to replace Overton and Sammy. There is a good chance we may have a 4 guard set at times.

Normally I'd say that it's a guaranteed win, but after 2 straight losses to DII teams, I guess anything's possible. I will tell you that from what I've seen in the past 25 years with Drexel, their early season performance against lower level D2, D3, NAIA teams is a good indicator to how the season will go.

I remember the year that Zillmer guaranteed a win in a preseason exhibition game against Holy Family. Drexel barely won that game, and the team finished 12-20 that year.

Well like preseason in any sport its about testing things out then trying for the win. However, I do think our Dragons will win. Also, new coach so statistics should reset.

Well a less than stellar start to Think Big Play Fast. I guess at least we have nowhere to go but up.

shooting was a problem tonight and foul shots. Hopefully they can clean up the sloppy play. I met the coach today and he seems very friendly and warm.

Overton was 1 for 10 in 3 pointers tonight. Granted this was his first competitive game in a year and a half, and the first game, where he is considered to be the main guy. But he's going to have to improve.

Question for those at the game: Was Major around, involved in warmups, etc? I keep hearing how he is healthy but then we don't even get a hint of him tonight - hopefully just a precautionary measure.

I notices that the two guards that show up on the front of the media guide this year are Tavon Allen and Freddie Wilson; the guards shooting performance also seemed like an homage to those guys. Maybe next time let's go more the Lee/Fouch/Massanet route.

Speaking of the media guide(http://drexeldragons.com.s3.amazonaws.co...?id=6648), one has to wonder if Timajh Parker-Rivera did something to piss off Mike Tuberosa (or whoever designs that cover) as he shows up twice getting dunked on by Williams and Bah. Since Freddie is in the picture with Rodney, it is at least from two years ago so it seems like a bit of a reach. Okay, it probably has more to do with finding the right perspective to make the two picture work together with the backboards forming a triangle and the top and depicting Tavon getting punched in the face, but I thought it funny that the same guy was getting dunked on in both pictures.

I heard somebody say that Major Canady has a partially torn ACL. Just hearsay, I'm not a documented source.

Did we at least "win" the scrimmage?

They've got one more shot this year to end their 3 game losing streak against non-D1 opponents.

I saw major in normal clothes, I didn't see crutches or braces if that is sign of injury or not.

It really is a bit sad to see the struggles. Despite losing, how did the flow of our offense look with the new coaches, anything noteworthy?

Maybe some of the X and O experts can give a different take on it, but from what I saw, it was more of the same, and the offense looked the same. I was joking at halftime to people that they should consider firing Bruiser.

When Coach spoke with season ticket holders before the game, he told us that he wants the team to rebound the ball, take care of the ball, and win the advantage at the free throw line. Of course that's very elementary and obvious and easier said than done.

Good to know. Thanks. Hopefully with it being a scrimmage things will change as we are getting familiar with the coach and the coach with the players. I for one was excite to see a faster paced style, so hopefully we do. However, he is right that mastering the basics should always be the top priority.
