Program Traditions
I know we don't have many traditions.

A cool one I heard about while watching a game this weekend was re: single digit jersey numbers. The coach reserved numbers 1-9 and gave them to people he deemed "the toughest" players on the team. The kids had to compete to get one of thise jerseys and they were coveted. Sounded like a cool idea.

RE: Program Traditions
Liberty's traditions:

- Lose to a random opponent that LU was favored to win by over 20 which keeps LU out of the playoffs.
- Be just good enough to think you're on the cusp of having a great program but be just bad enough to miss out on anything substantial.
- Label yourself as "FBS ready" and be the longest running "FBS ready" school without getting an invite to FBS.

But seriously, I don't recall offhand any true traditions except for having the fans wear red, shooting off the "flames" each time we score a touchdown, and maybe some generic chants that every other school does.

Does the marching band march along a road to the stadium playing or leave the stadium playing?

We need a bald eagle that flies from the LU sign on the mountain to the logo at mid field.

Is there an "eternal flame" that burns somewhere on campus or at the stadium?

There should always be a massive bon fire before or after games.

I like the flame burning elsewhere. Maybe after a big win they light a flame somewhere on campus. Maybe the top of the new tower.

Basketball Tradition: Every time a three goes up students/fans whistle like a bomb being dropped. When it hits everyone yells boom! ..... only for our team of course.

There's gotta be some great, but classy, thing to do when opposing players shoot free throws.

At the UofL women's game the pep band sang Twisted Sister music while the opposition was on the free throw line, only they changed the words.....

"You're not gonna make it. No! You aint gonna make it. You're not gonna make it, anymore!"

I thought that was very funny.

It's time to get a live trained eagle to fly from the LU logo on the mountain to the Flames logo on the 50 yard line befor every game!

How about on top of the mountain. It'd be like those signal fires alerting the world that Liberty just won it's game. Then a big post game party can break out up there.

RE: Program Traditions
Tech's entrance is overrated. However, it was very impressive to have all 65,000 people jumping up and down through the start of Enter Sandman. But they kill the music as soon as the team hits the field killing the excitement, IMO.

Our entrance in 2014 (our playoff year) was really good, even with the little gay guy running out and screaming, Come on Liberty!" But it was still very good with the old west style video intro. Last year, it seemed that LU scaled all of the pre-game hype and antics during the game back, so they weren't as fun as they used to be. But overall, Liberty still has one of the best game day experiences that I've been to.

The Go-Flames-Go chant should be extended a little bit. After saying go Flames go three times, the crowd should say “goooo Flames, light ‘em up!!!” Imagine hearing that with a packed crowd! Just quick idea that has been on my mind for awhile.
