Start of the new season
It has gotten awfully quiet, especially for less than a month from tipoff of the new era. I would have thought many would be riled up especially with the schedule we have of mainly local teams including 3 Philly teams and another 3 Jersey teams. I am certainly interested to see what the new look of an offense looks like.

Despite the local teams we are playing, this is an extremely soft schedule and should help get some wins and be competitive to build some confidence heading into the conference slate. I'm hoping with the new offensive look, we can start moving our way back to the middle of the CAA for this season.

Though it might pick up a little with media day tomorrow and the exhibition on Thursday, I imagine it will be relatively quiet until we start winning (and maybe not even then as it would seem that perhaps forums like this are on their way out).

My predictions for the year are that we will finish better than 9th as we are picked in the preseason poll, that Miles Overton makes one of the All-CAA teams, and we get a win over a non-D1 school (we get two shots this year including the exhibition).

I do not disagree with that statement, though I do not understand why. Personally I think having a place online like this to discuss things as a group of fans is a good thing. As long as there are moderators keeping things civil, I see no negatives to using platforms like this. Much moreso than discussing things over twitter etc.

I wouldn't say boards are on the way out. All it takes is a bit of momentum and a steady source of things to talk about and things get lively. ODU fans were able to import a considerable portion of the CAAzone community here to CSNbbs, so our momentum was ready-made per se. Between the football program finding its legs, basketball struggling/coming back/sometimes struggling again, and other happenings, we find plenty to talk about. Once Drexel is back to winning, people will come around

Frankly, in the wake of the Zone's untimely demise I have no idea where to go for Drexel news & talk. It's not the school's site, and not the league's site. It's not the worldwide leader. Metsox's still in hibernation...

But I'm curious to know if we have any games on TV? Did anything interesting happen at media day? Hell, has Spiker said or done anything of interest at all? Can anyone give any reason to be excited about the team?

Rodney, for instance -- he looking good?

TV schedule doesn't look very good so far, but I don't think that the media day list is complete. They state that there are a bunch of games on the Comcast Network, but the Comcast Network isn't listed for any games on the CAA list, so I think they'll be updating it with more TV games.

Anyway, I know that the Monmouth game is on ESPN3, Rutgers game is on BTN, and the game at UNCW and home game vs COC is on ASN, and the ASN games are usually picked up by CSN-Philly or TCN. I think right now the TV schedule is in flux with the cancellation of the NBC contract. There's no national TV for the CAA at this time.

Here is a link to the Spiker/Rodney interview from media day.

There were some previews on the cityofbasketballlove.com site

But overall not a lot of news coming out so far.

MetSox is not hibernating, he is just focused on his blog. BTW it looks like the Zone is back and rebranded without individual schools again, like how it started.

I think you are right as far as for this upcoming season he is still quiet, but I don't think he has gone away.

Now that baseball is over, we turn our attention to the next great event in American history: the Zach Spiker era begins in 210 hours.
