Stinnie (64), Wells (72), and Watford (71) all in this play! Bucs sure like the Dukes (see preceding post)!

Draft Wire's 7-round NFL mock draft has Rashad Robinson going to the Ravens in the 7th round... (#225 overall) https://draftwire.usatoday.com/2020/04/1...herbert/7/

That mock draft has Tee Higgins falling to the 3rd round. Is there an injury or something? I thought Higgins was a first rounder?

Every year, JMU has a senior or two (sometimes a handful) who are regarded as a potential NFL player and yet I can not tell you the last time I saw a duke get a combine invite. And yet, every year NDSU has someone invited as well as a handful of players from other schools around the FCS. Combine invites are not about talent but who you know and who is talking to who. Somehow JMU needs to figure out how to be proper advocates for their graduating dukes who have given their heart and soul for the program.

There is no reason for Rhode Island to get two wide receivers invited and JMU can't get one player invited.

When the phone rings JMU athletics will pick it up. Sound familiar? For sure it is being addressed in the background.

He reportedly ran a 4.54 40 at Clemson's on-site pro day. That's far from the speed you would expect for a 1st rounder. Having said that, the mock draft we are referencing likely is overreacting. He/They have 6 WR's going in the first round and 3 in the 2nd ahead of Higgins. Can't see that happening.

Unless, there are some unknown issues such as poor interviewing, etc., when clubs were able to interact with him 1-on-1 in greater detail. Though, I'd doubt this mock draft author has that level of insight.

Having said all that, I remember back in the day when RB's were hot commodities early in drafts. You don't see that nearly as much anymore. Most clubs seem to view that position as if "there are plenty of RB's available" and they want running backs by committee due to the injuries and pounding they absorb over time. A similar case can be made for WR's, particularly if they are attitude/behavior risks. I mean, unless it is a no-doubter like Calvin Johnson or Julio Jones, it would be difficult for me to spend a high 1st round draft choice on a WR.

Good stuff. Thanks. Nooch will wind up somewhere at the next level. QB is a tough position to make it in the bigs. The Patriots would be an ideal situation for DiNucci to break out.

Yep. Even more about JMU and "used to winning". Good pub for the Dukes. Love it. Good luck to Ben and congrats. Looks like he made a wise decision to transfer to JMU. Hopefully, he blows it out in Dallas, is cut, then goes to another NFL club and wins 5 Super Bowls and is MVP in all of them. 04-cheers

After Dak Prescott (obviously as the big price starter), they really aren't that impressive IMO behind him. Cooper Rush is the #2. Good, not great. Of course, same can be said for Ben. But, the 'Punks drafted Ben in the 7th apparently because they'd like a little competition for the backup job. It isn't like Dallas has a bonafide solid #2 like many other clubs have. Go get it, Ben.

Players tweeting the Dylan Stapleton is going to the Texans, I would assume as an UDFA. Haven't seen anything official, though.

Very cool audio of Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy talking to Ben DiNucci on the phone after Ben was drafted.

"Cowboys' undrafted free agent deal with James Madison pass rusher includes $145,000 guaranteed: $125,000 of his base salary guaranteed with $20,000 signing bonus"

Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News mentioned that amount is more guaranteed money than a 7th round pick.

Appears that Ron'dell got calls from 25 teams, crazy he wasn't drafted with that much interest.
