Idaho @ ULM Discussion
I may be underestimating ULM. Last year, we won 4 games but ULM was the only one that was pretty much a no-doubter throughout. So in my mind, this is one we ought to win. Vegas thinks otherwise -- the Vandals are 4 point dogs.

ULM fans, how much better are you guys this year than last? What do you like/dislike about your team?

As far as I'm concerned we're still on track. Our three losses have been to three very good teams and we're heading into the better portion of our schedule at 2-3. A loss on Saturday would knock us off course, though.

I would LOVE to be in a bowl this year. If we have 2 crap years and then slink down to FCS we're never coming back up. A decent year this year at least makes a shaky case that our situation is not hopeless and we can be competitive given any kind of stability. Still be very difficult to get back but we could move down with our heads held a little higher and make an FBS argument to our own administration with a straight face.

Every rankings publication has the Vandals ranked higher, by a couple of places. These teams are near equal. I guess Vegas thinks the away game will be the deciding factor.

We were a more talented team last year, but a much better coached team this year that plays hard all four quarters. We are coming off very similar situations winning against our 1 FCS and losing to three very good teams in OU, Auburn, and barely losing to Georgia Southern. We are a young team that is getting better every game, but we also look at this as our first true test and what will tell us how good a team we are this year. We think this is our next win on the schedule, but none of us are too sure. Guess we'll find out this weekend.

Through 5 games, Matt Linehan's QBR is 28.6, which ranks him #116 out of 128 FBS teams. If you'd told me in August that we'd get that kind of passing production and still win 2 games in September I'd be shocked.

He was not helped by his receivers against Troy on Saturday -- tons of dropped passes. But man, we need more out of our offense.
