Anyone watching Cincy vs Houston?
Pretty good ball game, but I'm mostly blown away by the stadium and crowd. Cincy certainly looks more like P5-lite than G5.

I like to think if we (GS) had a home game on ESPN Thursday against a top 10 opponent we'd break our attendance record and have a pretty nice showing, but there's no way it would look like that.

Wow. We got a long way to go.

And before someone says it, I'm aware that they were part of a former BCS conference so that gave them a boost/head start, but they are part of the same "Group" as us now.

Yea, Houston better win so they can keep their ranking when we host them.... but hey, at least we're not FCS!

Edit: I'm just now watching but how was the attendance at the beginning of the game?

40k capacity, and you can't really tell how full it is.

I think we could get at least 30k with a top-10 team in our stadium.

Heck we may top the record with ULM this weekend.

TXST will have 30,000 on hand for UH. The record is 33,000 for Texas Tech when they brought in temporary bleachers.

What a close game that ended in a blowout thanks to back to back pick sixes by the UH CB.

Well it's two programs that were P5 at one time. Cinci has played in 2 BCS bowls.

interesting that their own website says nippert has cap. of 35,000 but espn is showing 40,000+ in the box score. looks like a good crowd in the pics and that kind of matchup should draw well.

Nippert Stadium has a capacity of 40,000 due to recent expansions, and it looked great on Thursday night TV with 40K black-clad Cincy fans going bonkers. FWIW with the downward trend of attendance at 'most' college football games, 35-40K seat stadiums are probably more than adequate...just have to keep them filled. We could add 10K to Paulson just by closing in the end zone corners and not having to add a 2nd deck to the home side and break the bank. Still would need to upgrade press and sky boxes, but I can't see a need to ever have more than that. Then, you let supply side economics dictate ticket pricing.

I tuned into the game shortly before all the pick sixes and there were empty seats then. I also caught a few glimpses at the gym during the 1st quarter, still didn't seem like all the seats were full...
