RE: Official Game Thread • Troy at #2 Clemson
FWIW I attended this game; takeaways:
-Troy played very hard in a hostile & intimidating environment. They earned every yard & represented the SBC well.
-Troy's offense was a bit vanilla & short range. If they stretch the field more in SBC play, they will be hard to defend. Sharp precision in the running game, and #38 ran like a man.
-Clemson DT's were physically abusing the Troy Center; need more bulk in the interior o-line to be able to run inside the tackles. Typical Troy misdirection & counter runs were effective.
-Troy slants were effective every time used inside the 10. Timing, accuracy, hands, physicality of receivers all well done. Expect it in conference play.
-Troy's long snapping is very bad. Need a fix or it may cost them a game.
-Clemson offense never clicked all day....Watson threw low & short consistently, not due to Troy, just was off.

I've seen Troy Play MT many years, so their toughness didn't surprise me; good to see your team get a little swagger back.

If you are going to complain about others taking s***, make sure your own house is in order.

And I agree that most of the anchors overlook the G5 schools.

Say what? Your going to correct my spelling and tell me my house isn't in order? LOL.....And who's complaining? I was simply responding to the what someone else was speaking about and telling the truth. Got nothing to do with overlooking either, it's a belief that certain programs are loaded with a level of talent that is so much higher than others, and that level of talent should be enough to create the gap they so often speak of. Talent doesn't equal good football player, it only helps an already good football player be a better football player.

Well, the term anchor is an appropriate label for sports analysts.

Ok

In a game such as Troy vs Clemson, why does the talking suit always tell us that superior team "A" is playing down as opposed to underdog team "B" playing really well? Wish MacK would shut up and watch. Troy played well and had every Clemson fan I know (which is several) all upset over a possible ass kicking. All gave credit to Troy, done faulted their team or responded like Mack.

Because one they don't want to be wrong on their picks and look like they aren't the pros they're supposed to be as far as knowing the game. Look...in reality the gap in talent on a team like Troy and Clemson IS NOT what the Talkers (thats what I like to call them, but evidently I'm not correct in my term) ? say it is. Yes there is a gap in talent but not nearly as much as they want you to believe, and Troy probably has a couple guys that are better than clemsons, but would never get that said until they went pro and proved it at that point. The big differences is depth, coaching, money, and the 5 star types that play WR, returner, QB. Specialty players that can change the game, and there are really only a few of those on the best teams. Also....the fact that these folks have talked about this like they have for so long......everyone believes it. Even players at smaller programs. If you don't believe your supposed to win you usually don't.

Good game, Troy. Wish we could have seen what would have happened if they got that goal line fumble call right. Hard fought game either way.
