Yes... Exactly... That's your problem.

The vast majority of college football fans in and around ATL are either rooting for someone else or reading the paper like your emoji.
You seem overly concerned [cough] 34-7 [cough] with what goes on with our program

Yeah, you probably ought to use that one as much as possible for the next few weeks.

You should probably be appreciative that someone is interested in your program at this point, motives be damned.

A winning season... We haven't had one in 5 years.

I know my opinion probably isn't welcomed on the topic, but I think its going to take much more than one.

Quick question, how is the student turnout?

I agree.

As for students... In the tailgate lot, better than I have seen in a while. Just no one making it in.

Why is that a thing? Seriously, you go to tailgate for a game... but never go to the game.

I think that isa thing everywhere even at SEC schools. "I came for the party"

I can understand. I mean domestic beer in the Dome in $8. I can set up a tent and a TV with internet and a cooler full of beer and a weber grill for less than it costs to buy 2 hot dogs and 2 beers.

People do it all the time. There were people who were in the gulch tailgating for the UNC/UGA game, and they had no intention of going in. Same for Falcons games.

Grilling on my patio and then watching the game inside where its air-conditioned is the ticket for me.

No way do I want to put that much effort into tailgating and then not go into the game. In fact, I use the actual game to sober-up and re-hydrate.

Magic City Classic in Birmingham draws 65k plus inside. Usually 60k to 70k outside never buy a ticket and have no intention of going in.

I tend to agree but then I come the game not the party. I noticed the phenomena a few years ago when some of the 21 to 25 yyear olds working for my wife would spend their weekends in Athens, Columbia, Tuscaloosa, Knoxville etc and not to go to the game. They were going for the parties.

This

If 100K will show up to armpit AL to watch winning football atleast the NCAA min will to watch a winning GSU team bumville ATL.
It is not the stadium, it is not marketing, it is not being new, its not the wifi strength, scoreboard size, it is not opponent, it is certainly not money drops, it is not pulling off an occasional upset, it is consistent winning, rings and bowl wins in the FBS.

When someone in the SBC starts averaging 45k then I will be concerned about attendance. It's the G5. 80% have crappy attendance by FBS standards

You guys are on the right track with the Ted purchase. Having a dedicated stadium plus a couple of good seasons should really get your attendance up. I know everyone gives GSU crap for attendance but I think GSU is on the right track plus it will be sweet beating you guys on your real home field.

Well, we all know who doesn't care. That would be the Panther fanbase.

Georgia State hosts Ball State, attendance is 12,233, seating capacity 72,000
Mercer University hosts The Citadel, attendance is12,542, seating capacity 10,000.
Big difference between Atlanta and Macon. Public v. Private, FBS v FCS, but you couldn't tell based on the crowd. Well yah you can.

This. I'll worry when we've been doing the right thing for a while, and nothing moves the needle. Until then, I'll go to games when I can, bring others when I can, give what I can, and hope that we keep building the traditions and successes of the program. Any fans among us who thought that our somewhat unique challenges in building a program weren't very real have been given ample reason to reconsider. Hell, after game one vs. Shorter, I started to think that maybe the uber-optimists were right, and we were going to hit the ground running and never look back. Then, the next week, we looked back, and thus began the trainwreck that we're still rebuilding from.

The bottom line, though, is that I was extremely excited about the potential of the program when we first announced football. Now that we're FBS, have been to a bowl, have the Ted on the way, and finally have a consistent logo that I like, why would I be any less excited?

capacity is 28155

I watch a lot games and especially a lot of G5 games thanks to WatchESPN and YouTube. I would say that half of the G5's announced attendance does not pass the smell test. Ours is ntable because we play in a pro stadium where the cameras always face the visitor side. But there are PLENTY of announced 28k to 35k crowds that are closer to half of that. Attendance is cute to talk about but nobody in this conference is ECU.
