No offense, Eagles. I respect your program, but this is USA's year.
They'll be starting conference play with a big win in front of a big crowd that's all jacked up from the Mississippi State win.
This is USA's coming out party season.
USA wins by more than a TD.

Nobody knows for sure what GS has. On paper they should win this game by 10+ but as we all know games aren't played on paper, they're played on TV screens.
Nice win by USA against the fake SEC bulldogs and you should have sky high momentum and confidence heading into Saturday, as well as favorable match-ups with your receivers and QB against GS's untested and unproven secondary.
My gut tells me that USA should win this as GS is just too green at right tackle (one of the most important positions on the field for a right handed option team), DB, and coaching, and will come crashing to earth. We've seen this play out before vs. Wofford in 2002, McNeese in 2003, Wofford in 2005, CCSU in 2006, Chatty in 2007, and Citadel in 2012 where GS brings a lot of hype into an early season game and lays a big, fat, stinking turd.

Now, now. It's not always gonna be about the mighty GSUsouth.

None of those teams were really overly hyped.
This team isn't overly hyped either, because, you know, the coaching staff has Hatcher cooties.

Who hyped up Georgia Southern in the off season? Most of us still think that we will be a 7-5 team this season. We had much more realistic expectations than most Arkansas State fans coming into this season.

Hopefully the Eagles rushing attack keeps rolling but it looks like we may be passing more often. This past game our (best passing) QB stared down a receiver the entire play and the safety read from the start. It was a poor decision and ended up being intercepted. Can't have our guys doing that.

I'm hoping adding our starting left tackle (6-7, 325lb) back this week will help the run game. I don't think GS's D-line is as good as MSU, but they are still going to be very hard to run against.

If your coach is smart, he will only run the ball against us. Our secondary will be one of the best, if not the best, in the SBC. We still have not shown we can stop the run.

First, congrats on a great win. They may not be as good (though that's debatable, GS has an outstanding D-Line), they will likely play better. We all like to think we get everyone's best shot and everyone's full playbook. I imagine GS is hyped for this game more than MSU was and will likely beat USA by a couple scores or more.

If USA wants to win, they'll need to be infinitely better on the O line than last year. Davis looks like a solid QB and it remains to be seen what the new and young GS secondary can do, but there was immediate pressure on nearly every pass play last season.
The GS defensive backs are green, but they also have better size and speed than the guys they're replacing. If hurried passes turn into under throws or jump balls, the Eagles can capitalize, even with a bunch of redshirt freshmen and sophomores in coverage.

I agree the Eagles look sharp on defense but our O line seems to have taken a couple of steps back compared to the last two years. I think we win but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a squeaker.

Do we remember how our OL looked against WVU last year in the first game? Then we came out and destroyed WMU on the line of scrimmage the next? I'm hoping its just taking a game to figure out exactly who we want at RT. I'll reserve judgement until about halftime of the USA game :)

I'm hoping Dallas Davis is as good as we saw Saturday. From what we heard pre-season, he won that starting job because he was the most consistent QB we had, maybe not necessarily the most talented (debatable of course). Hopefully he gives the same performance this week.
Our O-line is much better at pass blocking than run-blocking after watching the first game. If they can make a few adjustment, I think they have high potential.
Our receivers are very good, and we are very deep at that position. If we can find any sort of run game, it could be a long afternoon for your DBs. If not, they should be able to drop some guys in coverage and slow down our passing attack and it could be a long day for us offensively. I'm expecting a good game and hope we can bring a good crowd this week.

WVU is not Savannah State. Two different classes of football. Our o line may have played alright at WVU and just got overwhelmed. Fast forward to the next game and WMU was far more manageable. This year we just are playing sloppy on the o line against a lower tier team. Fast forward to this weekend and it could actually present a problem if we don't get it together.

Agreed. I've got a bad feeling about this season after Saturday. Reminded me much more of 2003 than 2014.
