Toungue Franchione Has Cancer Surgery
Franchione undergoes kidney surgery

Quote:Former Texas State head football coach Dennis Franchione underwent successful surgery for cancer and had a kidney removed Friday, he told the American-Statesman.

Franchione, 66, had the surgery at Arise Hospital in Austin and tweeted from the hospital that “all is well.” He expects a full recovery in four to six weeks. He retired from coaching after a 3-9 season last December.

Franchione said he was diagnosed three weeks ago after having an MRI for his bad back and the doctor removed a golf ball-sized tumor.

“I guess a bad back has its upside!” Franchione texted. “Lucky the cancer has not spread from kidney!”

Anyone think this might have been happening sooner but they just found it?

In all the mess, I don't wish this on anyone. Hopefully they did get it all and he is truly on the road to recovery.

RE: Franchione Has Cancer Surgery
More than likely the back pain was the cancer. Golf ball sized he's had it a bit, but kidney cancer has a good survival rate, most forms aren't that aggressive and you got two kidneys.

Hope he has a great recovery.
