RE: WBB Recruiting
That big time recruit out of Notre Dame Academy recently released her top 10 schools...and Toledo was nowhere to be found. How in the hell hasn’t Coach Cullop formed enough of a relationship with her to even make her top 10...that’s embarrassing and says a lot about the current state of recruiting for our WBB program. I expect better.

I would bet that out of her top ten schools less than half will have the same type of fan support that she would, if she ended up being a lady Rocket... But yeah, I think TC and the Rocket program would have at the least, been in the young ladie’s top ten ...

Look at her picks and (except for UM) they are all on the coasts or in the southwest. Can't blame her for wanting to go somewhere warm.

She's a top 10 recruit by some folks, and has been recruited by pretty much every big school in the country since she was in like 7th grade. I am sure UT made an effort to feel her out early on, but once it becomes clear she wants to go elsewhere, no real point to keep trying when you can focus on other players who you have a chance at actually getting. It's not like being in her top 10 would get UT any kudos or anything.

Yep, 1 for 4 by my count. 1 star in McIntyre, 2 that never played a single possession before being kicked, and one who's been a bit player at best.

There's plenty wrong with the WBB program right now, but I can't agree with this criticism. Most top-flight players want to go to a top-flight program, and top-flight doesn't mean finishing in the top 30 annually in attendance. You're talking about a player with a legitimate chance to make a good living playing basketball. That type of player is unlikely to make a sentimental choice to play at UT. If you were her parent, what would you advise her?

If I was her parent she’d go to UT, end of story. But, yeah, you’re right.

Sentimental choice or not, the ND gal is good but I don’t think she is WNBA good...

Maybe not play but a lot of them make a sentimental choice to acknowledge that home town team in their "interests." I don't think it unusual to do that. Reasons here? Who knows? Maybe the kid just doesn't connect that way. Could be either side of the equation.

Wishing her the best.

Cicero-North Syracuse star looks to create her own path

https://bvmsports.com/2020/11/23/cicero-...-own-path/

Interesting story on Jessica Cook. Said she was dead set on another school in Ohio (doesn't say which one) until Steven's moved to UT and convinced her to visit, and the rest is history.

Wasn't a recent #1 recruit from Cicero-North? It was one of the Syracuse burbs. Good ball there apparently.

Cullop certainly doesn't mind playing a power forward who is 5'9" (Lecretia Smith) or 5'10" (Sarah St. Fort). As far as going up against players six inches taller than she is, that assumes that she would be playing the center position, which is not what I would expect. MAC power forwards generally are around 5'10" to 6'0". All that being said, I've never seen this girl play. I'm impressed, though, by her stats and by the fact that she is DII player of the year, and I am not really concerned about her height. Remember BG's Kadie Hempfling posting us up at will in our game against them this year? She's 5'9".

I suppose having her as a walk-on is ideal if she's willing to do that. Then we can have a roster of 16. (Seems like way more than enough, but this year our 15-player roster dwindled down to 10 by season's end.) I just hope that Mikonowicz is willing to come under those circumstances and that she gets a fair shot against the scholarship players.
