If we beat App State, we beat Ga Tech and WMU too. No way we go 1-3 in OOC and then beat App.

So with a win over GS, we "should be a lock for the conference championship", yet he calls for us to finish 4th?

Pretty decent write-up on GS, I haven't read all of them yet. Surprised that they don't have App as the conference favorite.

I think you could add one upset win with Arkansas State or Georgia Southern. We haven't been in the same area code let alone zip code of App. I don't think we get our first App win this year. Hopefully we can keep it within 20.

My favorite thing is that they predicted that GS would have the biggest decline this season but also winning a championship?

RE: 2016 CFN's Team by Team Predictions
I'm just not sure of the logic that they use here. It seems that their schedule prognostications are as follows: A. Who will they most likely lose to for sure. B. They can't go undefeated in conference so where are their best chances for a loss. C. If they were to be upset, who is most likely to do it. D. How do they match-up, "I'm not too sure man, that sounds like too much work, lets just keep up with the guessing."
A burning question, not to disparage Cajun fans, but how are they projected to go 7-1 in conference. The loss of the hog mollies on the defensive line is what hurt them most last season. A team can get by with a less than efficient offense if the defense can continue to give them opportunities to smooth out the inefficiency. However, unless they have another Ringo that I don't know about, I don't foresee a leap from 4-8 to 8-4.

RE: 2016 CFN's Team by Team Predictions
They have App at 8-4 and 6-2 which I would consider a disappointment. They have App losing at GS and ULL which will both be tough road games so I see their reasoning (don't necessarily agree). App's had ULL's number so far but I would expect them to rebound some this year after last years unexplainable disaster. GS vs App on a Thursday Night after both teams play road games thousands of miles away will be a challenge for both, especially App on the road. I personally will be surprised if any Belt team goes undefeated this year...just too much balance with what should be improved ULL, TSU, Idaho, Troy and GSU among others. Idaho and NMSU may have a little incentive in their last year on board the Belt train too. And GS's schedule is an absolute bear from a logistics and travel standpoint.

But App State wasn't at the highest point they've ever been at in 2014.

I'd be okay with 8-4 considering this will be the hardest schedule Georgia Southern has had to play in its history.

Ha! That's the first one that put us in 1st place. All the other preseason previews had App State winning the conference with Arkansas St in 2nd place. Phil Steele did have UL Lafayette to bounce back though.

Not all, and what CFN did with the 3 way tie was simply to retreat from a previously held position, based on a better understanding of the facts, something other's would do if they could.
Don't get too excited ULL, as CFN and others now know A-State is projected as a 9 win +/- 1 team in 2016, but now with a strong lean toward 10 wins. Very, very strong.

RE: 2016 CFN's Team by Team Predictions
Sorry, my bad.
I only got a peek at this years numbers, and with a little detective work just found out the numbers that are actually being put out there are now for a 10 win season for A-State. I still go with +/- 1 with no lean ( the best term I've found for discussing any measure of central tendency with most people, given the fact that I do not have advanced degrees in math) one way or the other.
CFN , or at least one guy there, has a reputation (at least with me) for not liking to back track too much at one time. Does not mind going 180 just does not like it being obvious.

ULL's descent was far from unexplained. If you watched the games then you could see that they simply couldn't get off of the field on third downs. The year prior they had Ringo who is one of the best DT's i've seen App play and they lost Terrance Broadway.
If they don't have someone to replace those two, I don't see a leap this year back to the successful team they had become over the 4 years prior.

They were on a downward performance trend like they experienced in the second half of 2015 though.

Downward performance trend culminating in an 11-2 season. I must need to point out the score before Jesse Chapman went out of the game against Arkansas State was 21-17. The rest of the game was a disaster for the offensive line.
Should be a good one.

I've never met another ol' chap that plays center as crucial to a team's success as he is.
Or is it causation≠correlation?
