RE: Ranking SBC baseball stadiums
We should be ranked 12th right now. There are HS parks in Atlanta that are better. I think we will be at the top once the new one is built.

If you remember what our football stadium was like pre-turf, pre-new video, pre-indoor facility and pre-fantastic pressbox and premium seating then you have to be excited about what Terry might have in mind for baseball. We still have a new football ops building and more premium seating coming in a year or so for football but baseball will be improved.

I'm at uta's field pretty often and it has had many upgrades in the last few years with indoor practice facility being built and new clubhouse building and the field always looks good to me. true the concessions are a little cheesey. it would be nice to have better concessions areas and maybe about 4 or 500 more seating..I like the shaded patio ares some of the other sbc parks have. more of those would be good. .It sits at the corner of two major streets with Fielder Rd. being an exit off I-30..Park Row on the south side is a main Arlington road and on the north side Mitchell takes you past the football stadium and the cpl. blocks to the main campus..for many years the same grounds crew that maintained the Texas Rangers field did uta's. I dont know if that is still the case .

Agree. Essentially, if one is talking about what the fan touches, Clay Gould Park (UTA) is in need of a rebuild. If one talks about the player support facilities on the first base side, it is absolutely first class. Those, btw, don't appear in the picture in this thread.

Location is good. Very visible to the community even if it is distant from the campus core. The land is old college farm from back in the distant past when there was an ag program, but is actually contiguous to all the rest of campus.

We're getting a batter's eye at earliest next season.

The abandoned hotel on the other side of The Beav's parking lot was demoed this spring, but it'll be another year or two before it gets developed.

I remember last spring a Little Rock parent came down the hill to say we had a really nice stadium compared to theirs.

I wish we had flags all along the outfield wall because they would all be blowing in different directions.

For those of you who are planning on making the trip for the SBC baseball tournament, I made a makeshift parking guide since the area around our stadium can be confusing for visitors. The blue is parking right around the stadium itself, and the red is secondary parking that's located about a 5 minute walk from the stadium. All in all, I'd say we have about 3-4k parking spaces around the stadium which will be plenty.

Man - it's really a shame that y'all can't just use Turner Field for baseball.
I mean, I get it but it seems like such a waste. And then they are going to tear down the Dome. It's almost like.. What the !#@%?

So y'all are going to disrupt what is a GREAT baseball stadium to convert it into a football stadium, while they get rid of a perfectly also great football stadium basically in the footprint of your university. All that - and the Braves and Falcons shared Fulton County Stadium for years. Seem like That could be done at Turner/ maybe with some mobile connecting stands to correct viewing angles for football that would be removable for baseball. I know that isn't going to happen, but man there is a lot of waste going on and a lot of money being spent.

But be warned when you get such a great spot right up front in the blue circled parking area just outside the first base line. Made that mistake once, thought I was Rodney Dangerfield and "must be on the front row"... Lost a windshield - "I get no respect, I tell ya.. no respect" ..

Um.. I meant to say that area is reserved for App State and GAST fans. 03-lmfao

RE: Ranking SBC baseball stadiums
We have a good facility at Troy. The indoor baseball facility and locker rooms are some of the best in the sbc. The stadium needs to be expanded to include suites and maybe another 1,000 seats maybe. (Currently seats around 2500) The wall in our stadium makes our field more unique. Might not be the best in sbc. But I'd probably place us somewhere around 4th

Well given that you need at most 1500 to 2000 seats for baseball it would be nuts to try and convert the Ted for college baseball. It is in a word yuuuuge. The reasons to keep the Ted nearly intact and renovate are the gorgeous exterior, the 49k seatback chairs you can reuse and the 250k square feet of suite and office space. Lets not forget also that it was a soccer and track configured stadium reconfigured for MLB that we are reconfiguring back to somethiing closer to it's original use.

There is also something very cool that we will play college baseball back on what was Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium with the original outfield wall and with the Hank Aaron statue moved across the street. It will be a nice case of adaptive reuse.

Out of the parks I've actually visited, I'd rank them like this.

Cajuns
Coastal
South Al
Texas State
UTA
ULM

I hope to visit others in the future.

They've taken the construction fences down on the exterior of M.L. Tigue Moore Field at Russo Park so I thought I'd post a couple of new photos.

What's going up on the Broyhill site?

Don't think that has been determined yet.

You mean the batters eye that was supposed to be put up before this past season started?
