Damn...this sucks. I'm a aTm fan, dad played there and that's just how I was raised. I'm gonna have to take the Aggies but hope it's an OT thriller giving the SBC and Bobcats some great press and a #1 ESPN Top 10 kudos. My truest dilemma will be the day USA plays aTm. My best hope is they don't play in my lifetime. Frankly, I'm not even sure who my dad would feel either (he's more involved with USA than aTm but he only played one year of CFB). Shrug.

It took us a few years as well, but you will start getting P5s at home. Actually, our AD has started a new policy where we only sign 1-1s with other FBS schools. You have to have a fan base than can support the program without the need for the 1 and done money games.

We had to take the same route as Ga Southern when we first moved to FBS. It was well worth the wait I can tell you thought. We now host a P5 school almost every single year.

Here is a link to every FBS future OOC schedule for anyone who may want to look at it.

I agree that patience is needed. TXST got Texas Tech for our first home FBS game. That was to open the new stadium as well so I think they did whatever it took to get a response regional P5 into the stadium. We won't host our next P5 until the next decade. But now we have Baylor and Arizona St coming.

Give it time and you'll host some great teams soon enough.

I don't disagree that App and GS put a lot of time and work into developing their programs before making the jump to FBS, and that those histories have impacted their success at this level. It is interesting, though, that the people who refer to that as "the right way" are generally the ones whose teams did it that way. Should USF fans really be kicking themselves because they don't have any FCS titles?

It's kinda like some EPL teams. I would say Man Utd and Liverpool earned their top spots, but teams like man city or Chelsea bought their way up.

GS is also spoiled in that we had instant success, so did we earn it? Vs a team that has been playing decades longer? You got to start some where, but sometimes patients is golden.

That's an interesting thought. Now that you mention it, I do kind of feel like I've "earned" some satisfaction as a GSU football fan more than fans of teams that have "always" been good. I've known GS as a power in their division since I first became aware of the team.

Kinda related, I had a guy in my lab who was getting his MS at GSU after a BS at Georgia Southern. He became a pretty big GSU hoops fan but maintained his football allegiance to GS. It seemed very convenient, although I definitely understand the inclination.

The future OOC schedule is coming around nicely. In 2020 we have home games with UTSA, Ohio and SMU. In 2022 home games with Baylor and UTSA. In 2024 home games with UTSA and Arizona State. We have at least two FBS OOC games scheduled every year through 2025. Now if we can only win enough games to go to a bowl...

If I can say one nice thing about our AD it si that he has put together a great schedule for the future.
