Nothing new:
Says conference has improved dramatically in the past 4 years

Made strategic decision to go to 10 teams and focus on football playing members

Not starting Champ game in 2017 because Coastal will not be eligible in 17

Expects some revenue boost from Champ game but exposure is the biggest value

Goal to be top rated G5 team for CFP

How is coastal not eligible in 2017? That's not my understanding. In 2017, we are full sun belt members in football. The only stipulation is that we are not eligible for bowl games. But a conference championship is not a bowl game.

2016 is FCS independent
2017 is FBS Sun Belt with no bowl game
2018 is FBS Sun Belt with no restrictions

We could still theoretically play in a sun belt championship game in 2017. In fact, that would be the ONLY thing we would have to play for.

Yeah I think the only way that we won the conference in 2014 is because there was no post-season championship game that we had to play. The ban was for anything post season, not just bowl games. If you do well in 2017, you'll still be playing in the Ineligi-Bowl like GS did unfortunately.

Karl Benson says Sun Belt schools will be getting checks soon for $1 million each. 10x increase in CFP era.

So, its official, Sun Belt now making 5x as much per school than CUSA. Basically switched places in revenue pecking order.

2016 is FCS independent - transitional
2017 is FBS Sun Belt with no bowl game - FBS transitional
2018 is FBS Sun Belt with no restrictions - Full FBS

Teams like UTSA had a 4 year road to full FBS.

Yeah, that's CFP money not TV money.

I started to agree with you, but remember their conference gets $10 million too, but they have to divide it up 13 ways, so we get $1 mill a piece to their $769k. So that is a difference of $231k or roughly equivalent to their TV money. So I don't know that we are ahead of them, but equal? Yeah it looks that way.

Think any CUSA schools have contacted the Belt lately? If I were a betting guy I'd lay a dime on "yep".

Correct me if I'm wrong but...

SBC divided by 11 this year, 12 next year and then 10 starting 2018.
CUSA divided by 13 this year and 14 starting next year so starting in 2018 we get $1 mil per school and CUSA gets $714,286 per school from the CFP not including performance payout.

Add to that we get $1.5 million per year from ESPN so in 2018 that's $150,000 per school vs $200,000 per school for CUSA and the new championship game may help increase this total.

SBC bowl games have higher payouts than CUSA bowl games.

Yeah I think we are on the right track so far.

Remember when Urban Meyer 1st started at OSU & they went undefeated, but were on a post season ban from Jim Tressel........kinda similar. OSU wasn't eligible for the B1G championship even though they had the best record, even though those were sanctions.....just like Penn St & Southern Cal too

Too bad Dennis is wrong

He's only sort of wrong.

Last year in CFP, Sun Belt made $13,021,925 CUSA made $12,683,653. Presumably CUSA split that 13 ways excluding UAB that produces $975,665 per team for CUSA. Sun Belt assuming an 11 way split (which is inaccurate, closer to 10 way after deducting travel reimbursement from NMSU and Idaho) you get $1,183,811 per team.

NCAA Tournament. Ignoring NCAA units earned by the former teams and starting with what was earned after the realignment. CUSA 5 units, Sun Belt 5 units. That was $1.3 million this year add roughly $25,000 to that in 2017. Split 14 ways self-earned NCAA units were worth $93,045 to CUSA this year and $118,420 to Sun Belt.

TV under this deal worth $200,000 to CUSA and $118,182 to Sun Belt.

Add it all up (per team)
CUSA total: $1,268,710
Sun Belt total: $1,420,413

Now that ain't 5X more it is roughly 1.12X more though actually a touch more because I didn't adjust for the NMSU/Idaho travel deduction could be even more if UAB took a full or partial share of CFP.

Come 2017 we split hoops money 12 ways and CFP goes to 10 ways in 2018 with presumably some dollar amount for the title game (really think if we want cash we gotta play it on Thursday night).

That's basically the same number I came across. I used 10 teams for SB and 14 for CUSA to show what will be. I also added the bowl payouts from last year and got a per school amount of:
CUSA: 1,520,000
SB: 1,670,000 (9% more over CUSA)

I used $1 million from the $100k/team. But the CCG should bring a little boost for probably 300k to start until the next year when the SB renews it TV contract.
But putting the addition 300K on top for TV puts that at $1,700,000/school. (bumps to around 12% more over CUSA).
