Call them "Louisiana".

We are trying to makes friends at our new school. No need to offend the cool kid on our first day.

Looks like the ball-chinians also have a little brown on the beaks.

Brown nosing and trying not to offend are two different things.

The team we swept in February is the not the same team that is coming this weekend. We are not the same team either, but I think SHSU has made bigger improvements in that 3.5 month span. Plus Matt Deggs is their coach. That dude is the man.

I think this is more called "stroking ones ego"

Probably appropriate in this case. They are in a good mood because of baseball and softball, as they always seem to be this time of year.

I'm not sure what to be jealous on... Your Cajuns do have a nice play for baseball and softball, plus some tradition to go with it. But I'd put our basketball arena up against yours without thinking, we beat you in the Bubas Cup standings again and the upward trajectory of the men's team I wouldn't trade with anyone.

One other thing is that we don't have a football team, but some would argue y'all didn't either last year. Rimshot

No, in all seriousness, it is nothing against the school, but everything against a a collective of posters from your school who go out of their way to belittle things they don't feel is as important. Two easy example to find include: first month or so on the board, I was greeted with this, http://csnbbs.com/thread-632720.html, and pretty much find any post from Louisianafanrcajun90.

College Park Center looks like a nice place and I see lots of people, especially media, on here rave about it. It's also 4 years old. Cajun Dome is going on 31 and has never received any type of major upgrades in that timeframe. $20+ million in upgrades are happening right now. I'm sure the Cajun Dome blew away whatever place you guys were in before the CPC. See, it's a tough comparison. Any place that is newer will typically be considered nicer than the older, unless the older has undergone a face lift. We can revisit this in 6 months when the reno is complete.

And UL fans, as a whole, don't care about the Bubba cup. Often times the stronger track and CC schools (that's 1/3 of all conference recognized sports) finish towards the top. And also schools that field the most sports.

Would rather have an awful football team, than none at all. And we could probably agree on that.

And that thread you linked was a good back a forth about softball and volleyball. Good points were made by both sides. Not sure why you're still worked up about it. I completely forgot that conversation even happened until I went a re-read the thread. You have to understand that the relationship between UL fans and the softball team is a very VERY familial type of relationship. The bond is closer than any other sport here. Probably goes back to the early days of the program where the longtime fans and the team, together, made UL into a national power. So the claws immediately come out from the Cajun faithful when someone tries to downplay any of their success.

O and RCajun90 is loon. Many of our own on Ragin Pagin get sick of his crap fairly quickly. You aren't the only one.

Yes, the Cajun Dome will be a fantastic venue once the (much needed) renovations are done.

That Tallahassee Regional is deep. South Alabama is a very good #3 seed... and #4 Alabama State, regardless of their RPI, is able to beat anyone in that regional. This year they have already beaten USA, beat a pretty decent Tennessee, and are receiving Top 25 votes as we speak.

Not to mention Southern Miss, who was very close to hosting. We will need our offense to come to life again to have a chance.

Final 64 out of over 300... Not a whole lot of bad teams left at this point.

Basketball tournament is fairly easy to predict at least. We generally know that a couple higher seeds will pull off wins early, but the seeds will end up holding fairly close to form and a top 15 team will end up winning the title.

Baseball tournament is just a mess yearly. Unlike softball where the top teams almost never lose before the WCWS, never once have all 8 National seeds in baseball made the CWS. It seems like every year 4-5 of them get knocked out early. Last year a Regional 3 seed in Virginia won the title, a few years back Fresno State came from out of nowhere to win its conference tourney, and then win the NCAA after starting as a regional 4 seed.

There's a legit chance this year that both Coastal and ULL could be in Omaha the way they are playing. Probably won't happen, but neither team is certainly going into the tournament happy to be there and hoping to steal a game.

Nevause its baseball, you can't shorten the game, you can't run clock. You gotta give every team their 27 outs and you play against the game more than you play against your opponent. A Lot of parity in college baseball which is why it's personally my favorite sport.

You don't have to get defensive. We all like our schools. CPC is a pro-level venue. After playing in Texas Hall, likely one of the worst places in the NCAA to recruit to, it is a huge point of pride. No different than our baseball fields. You have a better venue. I can still like going to ours.

As for the Bubas Cup, the men and women T&F aren't the same. Thats like grouping baseball and softball together and saying they account for 1/9th of the standings. My philosophy is and always will be, if you field it, try to win in it. UTA with 14 sports beats ULL with 16. Spin it however you wish, it is still true. That also does not take away from your recent success in football, basketball and baseball either.

Yes id rather have a football team. To be clear, that was sarcasm.

I linked that thread cause that was the first. There are others, but obscure since it wasn't the first. There are many good ULL posters, but as a whole, there are several that give the group a bad name. It's almost like a drinking game. Post something that isn't Louisiana (Lala, Lafayette, ULL, etc) and see how many posts til the thread is derailed.

First, wasn't getting defensive. I dignified your response with a response of my own. Would you have rathered me ignore you?

In regards to Track and CC, it isn't the same as the diamond sports. Men's and women's Track and CC utilize the same facilities and share a head coach. Also if your athletic department pumps more money into the program it benefits all 6 sports under that umbrella; whether it's via recruiting, coaches' salaries, equipment, etc. It's not often that you see the men's side excel for a school and the women's side totally stink. An athletic department doesn't necessarily do the same for softball and baseball together. I'd like to take a look at the last three Bubba cup podium finishers and then look at their CC, I T&F, and O T&F finishes. I bet most are near the top year to year, or at least in the top half of the year end standings.

And then in regards to posters, since we can probably agree there are more UL ones here than UTA. If 1/3 suck (just a guess) and they annoy you, and then if you, as probably the most active UTA poster here, annoy UL fans just as badly. Don't you in turn, due to you being one of the most active of the few UTA fans here, give your own group a bad name? Just something to think about.

RE: SBC and Coastal NCAA Regional matchups
Haha, that last paragraph is probably the best truth I have ever read on this board. Noted.
