Top of conference

USA

Middle
TxSt
UTA
Troy
ULM

Bottom
App St
Ark St
UALR
GSU

TxSt, and UTA can use the talent rich state and get some good baseball recruits, with there facilities can make a dent and be one of the top programs in the conference.

Troy historically has been a good Baseball Program, with them being in Alabama I think Troy could be in a position to part of the top 4 and a top 25 team.

ULM has a great state to recruit from Louisiana I think is top 5 in baseball when it comes to recruits the fact that you have 4 programs out of Louisiana. Tulane, Louisiana, LSU , and now Tech that will be in the NCAA tournament, talent alone coming out of Louisiana is so good that you really do not have any bad baseball teams out of Louisiana. ULM can recruit some of this top talent in the state think they could be good most years.

Our greatest potential is baseball. Personally can be a top 5 conference in baseball.

Troy has been a Top 25 team on a few different occasions. In 2013 Troy went as high as #21 and actually finished the season ranked #23. In 2011 Troy made it up to #22. In 2007 we made it #19, and in 2006 was ranked #24 with a #11 RPI after winning the SBC tourney. That 2006 team was a close to hosting a regional.

The Blue Jays paid to upgrade their old stadium that had to help early on.
That is where the minor league team played until the stadium across from Broadway at the beach was built.
Gary Gilmore has done a great job building the program.
The new stadium Clemson and USC being baseball powers all helps Coastal.
Having the ability to host big tournaments with both stadiums is another plus.
I would rank Coastal's chance of being strong in a sport like this.
1.Soccer usually ranked with a new stadium coming.
2. Baseball Great new stadium but tougher competition.
3.Basketball Cliff Ellis is a good coach.
4.Football like the coach but bad FCS conference to FBS =rough transition

Sun Belt baseball should be really good.
Baseball isn't huge like football or basketball but your allowed to compete with the big boys.

you are allowed to play with the big boys and often beat the top ranked big boys...much more likely than football and basketball

Hockey is the other sport that still has that.
Hey now, that's got a nice ring to it... Sun Belt Hockey.

I'm pretty sure Denver was still in the SBC when they won the national championship in hockey.

There are 5 programs out of Louisiana in the tournament this year. You forgot SE Louisiana, who is the 3 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional

Speaking of baseball, the SBC sent out the 2017 baseball rotations in the last couple weeks. It's entirely new, meaning there is the potential to travel to the same place two years in a row as a one time thing.

We have to go to Coastal, ULL, and Georgia Southern. Ouch.

That sucks. We already went through 3 straight years of having to go to UTA because of conference changes. That was not fun.

UL will host Appalachian State and Texas State for the second straight year. UL will travel to UTA and Troy once again next year.

Coastal replaces Georgia State on the schedule. We look forward to the trip to Conway.

That series should be good for our SOS. Much better than playing Georgia St.

Yeah, we go to GS, CCU, ULL, App, and Texas State. 2nd trip in a row to App. I'm not sure of the home schedule, but we'll sit one of USA, Troy, or ULM, while the other two join Georgia State, Little Rock, and UTA in Jonesboro.

OOC schedule includes Cincy, La Tech, and Northwestern State for weekend sets.

Coastal will be a fun addition the FunBelt.

Curious to see if they continue to have success in a conference that brings solid competition.

Personally, I expect success from the CCU, but I doubt they continue to be a dominate team like we have been accustomed to in the past 10 years! That's not saying they won't be dominate, but they will be tested from FunBelt members

If we aren't top 2, I would be surprised. If we aren't top three, I'll be pissed.

The sun belt is absolutely a step up for our in conference schedule. But we've proven in OOC performance and post season performances through the years that our success is not DUE TO the crappy big south conference, but rather IN SPITE OF the crappy big south conference.

We haven't even dominated the Big South in the past few years. We'd win the season but lose the tournament. Good OOC scheduling has made us successful overall - so I think that will continue. I definitely think we'll be tested from SBC members and probably like how the Big South was last year (6 members with RPIs under 100).

Some years we'll finish 1st, probably some years below 3rd - but I think we'll be considered one of the top 3 teams overall with time.

I agree.

All I am saying is that as a general rule, I would be pretty mad if there were 3 teams in the sun belt consistently beating us in the conference standings. Which I do not expect that to happen with the caliber of our program as a whole.

There will obviously be up and down years, as with every program, and the sun belt has some stout competition. However, Coastal is as good as the best teams in the Belt, and I expect them to show it.
