With your RPI it wouldn't shock me if you wound up as a 2 seed still. No really bad losses, Northeastern is probably the worst, and wins over UNC and NC State.

RE: 2016 CAA Baseball Tournament
This UNCW team just didn't finish though. Not taking away from the Tribe at all because they were really clutch but UNCW just didn't get the job done yesterday. That was a ridiculous performance. Granted it was started by clutch Tribe hitting, but still the Hawks were either walking or hitting batters. They lost a 7 run lead! Tonight the bases are juiced and only plate 1 run. That's not big time at all. Not hanging that on individuals, but it's telling that somebody didn't step up-it has to be 1-9. And, you have to be aggressive not passive! The team simply wasn't aggressive at the plate or on the hill. Bottom line.
This seems to happen to EVERY CAA team that has an At large wrapped up. The big issue that I had was that they had this tourney in hand but didn't finish. It's cool that the Tribe gets to play, that is cool but as a UNCW fan, it sucks too.
After SO many arms that were drafted last year, it was truly a miracle that this team has done what they have done. This was probably the best coaching job Scalf ever had and that's saying something. It's looking like next year could be a year that we have more quality pitching talent and depth. I really hope that they use this as motivation and somehow bounce back strong. They need to get a chip on their shoulder at this point and play hard. Our opponent did this weekend and they are now dancing in the streets....Good for them!

W&M is not a team that deserves to play in a NCAA tourney IMO but every year some half ass team craps out a win like this. UNCW should get in but you never know because every year somebody gets the shaft.

Maybe W&M will steal UNC's spot in the tournament (since UNC is projected to be one of the last teams in). I would imagine that would make UNCW fans happy

W&M has terrible mid-week pitching. I think they probably lost 80% of their mid-week games this season

RE: 2016 CAA Baseball Tournament
The Tribe beat the best team in the CAA fair and square so that's why they play the games. UNCW won the CAA regular season and now their RPI has dropped to #33, but that's safe territory. When you win your league, have a sub 40 RPI and have beat a few good teams, you're in the field. Last year's UNCW team was actually more talented top to bottom when you look at the pitching and overall talent but this team did well to just be in this position.
Hawks will have to likely play without Golden in the Regionals. Hope that Andy can get his swing right and go out like a champ. It's going to take more than just our ace, I'll tell you that much.
What did we learn? Well, Ryan Foster is a BEAST that simply knows how to pitch. Royalty is someone that will give you a chance as a 3 pitch guy that can locate-really good upside potential. Austin Magestro is a beast period. And, it looks like we found something with Alex Groff moving ahead and next year. Heck, Lockamon looked good tonight. Not sure what happened to Easter tonight? He's usually hard to deal with. Hyssong and Gessell can certainly throw hard and hopefully will get their MOJO back next weekend. It would be cool to have 1 or both of them close a game out in the NCAA's.

UNCW beat UNC. Most UNCW fans are simply UNCW fans and don't hate Carolina just to hate.
The Tribe learned a thing or 2 about their staff out on necessity this weekend. Don't be shocked if they do some damage!

Would not be surprised if UNC gets in and UNCW does not.

Sorry but they lost twice to JMU. Both record and RPI wise.

It would be shocking if we missed the Regionals, no doubt about it. Only thing the committee could reasonably do to "punish" us is make us a 3-seed and/or keep us out Raleigh. They're not keeping us out of the field entirely.

An additional note: In a weird way I feel a lot better about how this went down than had we been handed the title due to weather. That would have felt like a hollow championship.

We had this championship in our grips. An unbelievable and disappointing breakdown. But congrats to W&M. You earned it.
