FINAL 2015-2016 Bubas Cup Points
Congrats to USA for the Bubas Cup win.

I'll post a few more thoughts later this evening and/or tomorrow. For those that followed my weekly updates you most likely know that I have a few other stats on the spreadsheet to separate out sports by season and by gender. I also have the Unity point thing that makes all the sports equal weight. There are numbers for all Sun Belt sports and averages for each school that only considers the particular Sun Belt sports a school offers. Everyone has a few options to look at and see where their school did well and a way to rationalize what did not go so well in the overall Bubas Cup, so everyone can feel like the year was a success.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...edit#gid=0

Hopefully I will have time to do this next year as well.

RE: FINAL 2015-2016 Bubas Cup Points
For those that want to look a bit closer at the Bubas Cup numbers.

Look at the Bubas Cup tab for total points.

This is the official Bubas Cup that matters. It does help to offer more SB sponsored sports.

Different sports give more/less points for each sport depending on the number of schools competing in that particular sport. You can also find average points for only the sponsored sports and an average for all SB sports (which will be lower for every school except App State since every other school does not sponsor all 18 SB sports.) I don't think average points per sports is very meaningful since winning Men's Soccer could hurt an average and is worse that coming in 5th place in Football, volleyball, baseball and a few more sports.

The sports by season tab is just that. One can see the slow slide from 1st to 5th overall for App State. That is not my favorite tab on the spreadsheet.

I also break out Men's and Women's sports in yet a different tab. I should do a break-out by gender and season for a bit more focused look. Maybe next year.

Unity points is my way of making all sports have the same value. Total unity points is also helped by offering more sports of course, but I also have averages for only sports sponsored and also an average across all 18 sports much as I do for the actual Bubas points tab.

More than a few ways to see how things were going for your school.

One column I need to include next year would be percent of points earned compared to points available. That would be similar to averages but it would factor out the unequal weights of different sports in a similar but different manner than unity points would.

Let me know if anyone notices any mistakes in my numbers (or formulas for that matter.) Both years I have been tracking the Bubas Cup I have noticed mistakes on the SB website. These numbers can easily run together for any of us and I don't mind a set of extra eyes proofing my work as well.

Hopefully I will start posting next fall the first Sunday after the first SB competition which I guess will be either Soccer, Volleyball of Football. I am not sure which sports leads off with in-conference match-ups.

The only recommendation I'd give is make all these posts the same thread. There's been couple times I was trying to find something and it took forever.

I'll chime in to agree. It's been great having this resource all year. 04-rock

I may do as you suggest next year and just have one long thread. There are advantages to your suggestion. I did not realize the posts were that important.

I post this on Yosef's Cabin as well. I don't mind anyone posting my link on a school specific board either. Outside of joining a GaSo forum a few years ago I have not generally joined other boards.

I like numbers and this makes me learn a bit more about Google Docs so it is good for me as well.

I am glad others appreciate it and don't find it getting in the way being updated weekly.
