YES, fear of another Michigan "situation".While the vols were down and APPALACHIAN STATE was winning one national title after another there is NO WAY they would "risk" this game.If they play an FCS they make sure it is a mid or lower level FCS.

EXAMPLES A PLENTY--Tenn Tech-2016
Indiana St.-2017
East Tenn St.-2018
Western Carolina-2015
Austin Peay--------2013

The main reason they are now playing is FBS status and the number of fans they will bring vs other non-conf. opponents.IMHO.

Topstraight I hope App gives the Vols a real beat down but on the flip side has WKU been trying to schedule them and they wouldn't do it? Is that where this comment came from? I'm just asking because I know that was the case between us and GT for a long time.

WKU played Tennessee in 2013 (a 52-20 Tennessee victory).

No,WKU took a beat down in K-ville a couple of years ago.It is just common knowledge in this area that close regional games are difficult to get.You would have thought those two would have played at least ONCE in the last 75 years.

honestly, I love it, if were going to play a Thursday night game, might as well be the first of the season, probably have more people watching that aren't App or Tenn fans, plus, it will give us a couple of extra days to heal our wounds if the beat down everyone is expecting happens before the ODU game

App's timing ain't that good....the Vols are surging now.

But I'll be rooting for you guys.

Here's to ODU being your "letdown" game at home after a great victory at TN.

I App may be to catching the 2016 Clemson team as I expect UTk to be in the playoff conversation... Unless we shock the world.

I predict you get crushed by Tennessee which makes people scratch their heads twice as hard when you beat Miami a few weeks later.

I see the same as bullitt, lose TN and beat Miami. But I don't think it will be a beat down by the vols.

I think that's a fair assessment, I think App can atleast give Tenn a good game for a quater or two, but in the end they should win fairly easily, but on the other hand, I don't think Miami knows what's in store for them when they make their way up the mountain.

I'll be surprised if we stay within 21 in my mind, my heart always gives us a chance however.

Honestly, not sure, I think we have only played Georgia a couple of times in the last 15 years or so, even though Georgia was a relatively easy drive from Boone, I guess we never moved the needle for them.
