Cajuns vs Privateers was like a baby seal hunt. I have never seen a weaker looking UNO team and I have watched the Cajuns and the Privateers for a long time. This was not the UNO of this season, and the Cajuns bats were absolutely not being swung by the same guys we have seen all season.

UNO helped a lot with plenty of walks, and hit batters to compliment pitches most high schoolers would hit. I have to admit the UNO field was in beautiful condition, a baseball gem even after a morning full of rain.

They threw the back end of the bullpen. Their staff isn't great to begin with.

The impressive thing to me is how we held their lineup down. Those guys can hit, and they've hit just about everyone this year. They scored 28 runs last weekend against Southeastern's weekend arms. That team isn't nearly as bad as you make them out to be.

But last night their pitching staff was.

I think almost everyone's pitching was bad nationwide last night. As the OP indicated, a lot of teams just don't want to overextend (or especially injure) anyone in the last non-conference game of the season if it doesn't hold much meaning, which most don't. Especially with the last weekend of the regular season usually a Thursday-Saturday affair.

We pitched 9 guys last night. Exactly one inning each. The guy that threw the 4th is our usual 3rd baseman (he's listed as IF/RHP on our roster but that was his first pitching appearance of the season). UT threw 7 or 8 guys too and at one point 5 of them in a row were true freshman.

Last mid-week game of the season often looks like a spring training game. **** gets real tomorrow.

They hold just as much meaning as any OOC game. Beating UT-Austin, UNO or Ole Miss yesterday means as much to the RPI as if those wins came on March.

The timing maybe the issue. UTA had no OOC game this week to keep everyone rested.

Our RPI doesn't matter anymore. In March it still did.

Its not just y'all's. The entire conference will take a rise. Half the rating is opponents winning percentage. 9 other SBC teams rose a bit due to that, Astate's and the Cajuns win.

I'm just saying in our game neither staff really cared who won or lost the game more than they cared about staying healthy and not overextending anyone. And there are plenty of games like that on the final Tuesday of the regular season.

Great win against UT! That losing streak was an embarrassment.

That's insane.

We didn't face their backups really. Saw their traditional midweek starter and a couple of weekend guys out of the pen. I don't think they intended to use what they did, but we probably cost them a National Seed last night.

I wondered about that but according to at bats most of them were regulars.

It was their regular lineup, their normal midweek starter, and they used a couple of guys who see significant SEC time out of the pen.

They had a pitcher warming up in the pen after 4 batters if that gives you any idea how serious they were about beating us.
