I like ESPN3, it's available to tons of people and does a pretty good job with the broadcasts, BUT i don't know if many people stumble onto games on there, or if most of the viewers are just fans and people who want to check out that specific game. Sometimes it seems like the amount of content on ESPN3 might make it difficult for people to stumble onto it. On the other hand, if you're like me, I don't actually look at the channels that i'm scrolling through on live TV, i just look at what is playing, so if i scroll over any channel with "College Football" as the title, i'm likely to stop and check in, so i could see in that case that BeInSports might actually grab me to watch more than ESPN3 if i'm just a casual college football fan. If they also offer to stream any un-televised games through their service, it might actually be a good choice instead of ESPN3.

This exactly. I've never sought out a game on ESPN3 outside of sbc teams. I doubt most people do (especially for G5 schools). But like you said, if I'm channel surfing and a game is on, I'm going to at least stop and see who's playing. May even leave it on if there's nothing else on tv. I do hope if we stay with espn, we look for other tv partners to air our lower tier games.

That depends too on how you consume TV. I don't pay for TV service, but I do have access to ESPN3. So, I check out various different games on ESPN3 every Saturday because there is so much content. I am also a football addict, so I enjoy watching teams I know nothing about to learn about them.

How do you get ESPN 3 without cable? I've tried and it asks for my cable company.

The way I see it, I live in new york and I can watch as C-USA content as i want now. This is great. You want more money? Let's all get some NCAA credits!

ESPN3 most (not all) internet providers pay a carriage fee to give you access but it is ESPN3 content only, no ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Net, or LHN.

Most (not all) cable and satellite pay a carriage to give you access to ESPN content (including 3) via the WatchESPN app.
When I moved from UVerse to Direct, there was no deal to get access via Direct so I could watch ESPN3 by entering my ATT internet credentials but no ESPN on the app (weirdly enough you could often watch the Skycam feed of some ESPN games with no announcers)

You can't log in to the watch ESPN App without that. But if you goto eson3.com using an IP from a carrier of espn3, it doesn't ask for credentials unless you select a game from the tv network channels

I think college campus' get ESPN3 for free. At least thats what it tells me when i log in from my lab. If you have a VPN for your college campus (Georgia State has VPN access) or know someone that does, log in through that VPN and you'll get ESPN3 for free. Also, if you're in a blacked out region, you can find or buy VPN's outside that region to allow you access.

You can get SlingTV for $20 a month and it includes ESPN & ESPN2 along with access to ESPN3.

From there, you can watch on a PC/Laptop or even better, sign up for 3 months of Sling and you get a free Roku device to hook up to your TV (for Sling, WatchESPN, Netflix, Hulu, etc.)

I used to do this. In fact, if you prepay the first 3 months of SlingTV, you get 50% off an Amazon Fire TV box which essentially acts as a set top box for all these things (and for those of you who want to use Kodi, you can download it onto there as well). I did eventually move to Playstation Vue, which offers a lot more channels for $5-10 more than SlingTV and has cloud DVR. For $35 a month i get access to all the ESPNs, the local Fox Sports (Fox Sports South and Southeast) which was a big deal for me as it lets me watch the Braves and Hawks which i couldn't do with SlingTV, and for what it's worth it gives you BeInSports. It's a really good deal, i've convinced my dad to drop cable and use that instead.

arkstfan has been trying to get me to understand the benefits of ESPN3 for the last couple of years. Guess I'll have to hop on his streaming bandwagon since ESPN3 is replacing the C-USA digital network.

I think the true gauge will be if the B12 expands with two AAC teams. ESPN has the right to void the contract. If UC and UCONN were to be picked, you have to think ESPN would have to consider low balling the AAC further. Do the other networks really offer that much more for the AAC? Don't think the B12 will expand but if they do, the fallout could get interesting.

RE: OT: ESPN In, Fox Sports Out in new CUSA TV Contract
Final results are in

They get 2 conference games on an ESPN network (plus 3 home games against P5's) ESPN also has rights to Title game

They get 6 games on CBSSports

They get 15 games on ASN

They get 10 games on Bein. Bein will host most non revenue sports

Rest go to ESPN3,

Total: 5 Million divided among 14 teams= Roughly 350K per school. However, each school must pay their own production costs, ala the MAC, so the actual value will be less than that for schools without much of the needed facilities to produce games.

Also, WKU loses their deal with Fox Sports again, which I'm sure their fans are THRILLED about.

I know Savannah has an ASN station but I have never seen a CUSA game on it. My understanding is each ASN station can opt out of games they don't want so I'm just not sure how much exposure those 15 ASN games gives to CUSA. BeIN is interesting to me because they appear to be making a play to be a viable sports network. Maybe when our contract comes up again we can get more games televised via a multi-network contract like this one.

Bein is also in like 10 million homes. They aren't even available on the main Sports package for my cable provider.

That's exactly what I did. I got Sling when it first came out. It was ok, but we dropped it. They sent that deal out in the mail. We had been planning to buy a Roku device anyways. So after reading about the upgrades they had made, we decided to pull the trigger.

We love SlingTV. Best thing we did in terms of tv for us. Using the Roku, you wouldn't even know it was being streamed. In fact, we have family over and they didn't know until we told them.

Another cool feature of Sling is a lot of the shows are saved on there, depending on the channel. So you can go watch most things on demand, whenever its convenient for you.

No weekday games and for only 2 years, it could have been much worse I feel.

So the differential in the per-school payout between the SBC and CUSA is less than the differential in the per-school profit from the CFP with the Sun Belt finishing last in the conference rankings and getting ready to go down to 10 members.

You people that assume that no SBC school would turn down CUSA, explain to me why I would want my school to pay the exit fees and take on higher travel costs to go to a CUSA if the AAC strips them of USM, Marshall, or La Tech?

The value of the contracts haven't been made public yet so it's all speculation still at this point. Probably safe to say it's worth less than 500K per team though.
