That's more like it. But don't be disappointed when we are hoisting that trophy at the end of the season.

But that's different because of the talent level that's never been seen in the G5 level.

How is my statement about not writing us off in any way different than what you guys keep smacking?

All I did was controvert what a GSU fan said about us. I even stated we were rated too high. But as I stated that happens when you do what we did last year. Run the conference. Win the conference championship game. Win the Bowl Game. It gets some shine put on you.
Yeah, also after that whole response all that was addressed was your last sentence lol

Winston's still mad at me for calling Trey Finn a scrub. 03-shhhh

Never for a second was Winston mad at dahbeed about referring to Finn as a a scrub. Winston knew it was a foolish statement, and also understood why that statement was made.

Winston also understands that A-State and WKU have both had similar football success of late and that the Troy "last forever" sentiment could be applied to both.

However, Winston knows that much of the reason for A-State's success is the commitment by the academic leaders of the institution. So unlike the Troy situation with one coach doing what he did, there are underlying reasons to support the notion that football success might continue at stAte since stAte has hopscotched through coaches and maintained that level while building significantly better facilities and a bigger budget and fan base.

Winston would like to know why dahbeed thinks WKU has a good chance of continuing their recent success in the middle of a basketball state. Winston is not claiming that WKU can't do it, he just doesn't know enough about the what has changed in Bowling Green to believe it will last. Enlighten Winston por favor.

Damn if Winston didn't go old skoo dahbeed and break out the 3rd person. Been awhile since I've seen that.

Right now it's because we have the best AD in D1. Better than Doogie Howser AD (Wood Selig...current ODU AD) who brought us into FBS. Better than Ross Bjork who may be wondering why he left for Ole Miss with what's been happening there.

He's hired Petrino, Brohm, and Stansbury. He's been pretty slick with scheduling just recently pulling a home and home hoops series outta Wisconsin because they needed a sacrificial lamb in football. We play one every year and are getting around 1.4 million to play them AND get the home and home in hoops.

One worry is our President is retiring. At the end of next year. He's been a meddler but he's been very pro athletics. It was his dream that moved us to 1A.

If this whole thing doesn't come crashing down on all of us I believe we'll always be pretty good. We always have been pretty good in football. Look at the all time wins. Sure we've had some bad stretches, the worst of which occurred when we moved up.

I know it's hard to believe but Western is probably a football school now more than a basketball school. At least in the eyes of the students. Way more show up for football than hoops.

Bowling Green has a lot of people that came from elsewhere for jobs. I remember preaching to them how good our 1AA teams were. They never came. These people are season ticket holders now. Because we play in the same league as Bammer. Not equal to them by any means. But the same league in these folks eyes.

Nothing is a guarantee amigo. One bad coaching hire can destroy you for 4-5 years. easily. That's hoops or football. But our administration has always been quick to pull the hook out. I thought we were too quick on Ray Harper. He resigned. But make no mistake he was on the way out regardless.

Stumbling onto Brohm as Petrino's sidekick was the best thing to happen to our program other than Willie bringing our talent level up equal to the teams we were playing.

No way I say we win the league every year. But I believe we'll stay competitive as long as Todd Stewart is the AD.

Interesting. A-State's AD Terry Mohajir is a very good AD and a big part of what is happening in Jonesboogie. Wouldn't trade the former Indians safety for any other AD. Our system president and chancellor have been big-time pro athletics and while we no longer have the governor of Arkansas we do have the former governor of Arkansas as our number one football fan. Leadership makes a difference. A-State is set up to continue to thrive as long as they keep those three(AD, System Pres, Chancellor).

A-State's athletics budget has doubled up to just under 30 Million. **** is happening. Football Operations Center (or whatever it is called now) should be starting int he next year or so. That follows the indoor practice facility and the press box expansion.
