UTA sweeping Texas State just isn't likely. the Mavs have swept the 'Cats once since the 1995 season. That was in 2014 at home when they were previously swept in San Marcos, making the seasons series 3-3. In the meantime, TXST has swept UTA six times in that stretch.

We've underperformed for at least 3 weekends in a row. I'd like to break that trend next weekend at UTA. I doubt we see a sweep, someone will win 2 of 3 and if I was a betting man I'd bet on UTA to do it.

Tourney Scenarios for 8th place

8. Arkansas State 11-16
9. ULM 10-17
10. GSU 9-18

Arkansas State will clinch the 8th seed and a spot in San Marcos by winning the series @ Little Rock next weekend, or if BOTH ULM and GSU lose their respective series (@ ULL, @ GS) next weekend. (Red Wolves hold both the 3 way tiebreak, and the tiebreak with ULM, they lose a tiebreak with GSU)

ULM needs to win 2 and hope LR sweeps AState or Sweep and hope LR takes 2 from AState, AND hope that GSU does not sweep GS. (Warhawks own tiebreak with GSU, but not AState, and would lose a 3 team tiebreak)

GSU needs to sweep and hope LR takes 2 from AState AND ULM finishes behind them in the league standings. (Panthers own tiebreak with AState, but not with ULM, and do not own a 3 team tiebreak)

So in essence, stAte is in.

Pretty Much. It would be shocking if either GSU or ULM were to win their series next weekend, and would be pretty shocking if we got swept by a UALR team that we've got an amazing record against. No matter how good the Trojans are this year.

I guess someone could comment here that 8th place is esssentially playing for the right to get run over by South Alabama game 1, but the title is not decided yet, and even if it was the Jags are notorious for resting their ace in Game 1 of the league tournament. Anything can happen in a one game scenario.

Crap luck all weekend, but App had chances to win all three games. Improved from 8-21 to 9-21 in Sun Belt play for what that's worth.

If he bumped an umpire that'll be a four game suspension. NCAA suspension, not Sun Belt.

Also, Mark Calvi of USA got tossed for arguing balls and strikes Sunday. That won't warrant a suspension, but his kicking dirt on home plate and not leaving the field in a timely manner could.
