Like all over inflated budgets and revenues, the bubble will burst. The college football money is already drying up, and this will trickle up to the big boys. They will feel the pinch and things will change again. It is a live, breathing organism that will adjust to fit it's landscape.

Imagine if college football had a true power conference where every weekend was Alabama-Michigan, ND-Georgia, Texas-USC, Ohio St-Tennessee, LSU-Oklahoma, and the next weekend there would be just as big as these teams just switch dancing partners. This would gain the biggest general audience. I'm not saying they would be the knowledgable fan that understands the game, I'm talking just normal people, that turn on college football because it is fall.

If you remove the bottom feeders, new bottom feeders will be formed and replace them. People think that we are heading to this four 16-team conference division that just plays each other. If they do that, there will be a lot more losses amongst the teams, and there will be some fans that are not happy with becoming a perennial loser.
