Don't know about APP's, but A-State has dropped from a peak of over 6K per game to 1500 or so. It is pathetic.
But LSU, OK ST, Memphis, Houston, Baylor, Cincinnati, etc. no longer play road games in the Convo. I just don't see attendance ever getting back to the 80s/90s levels because name schools just buy home games and won't travel out of conference.
Oh, and that 75% drop in BB attendance at A-State occurred while the city population and University enrollment nearly doubled.
Even when we did win the attendance was not great. Our administration built a modern, beautiful arena at the far end of campus. They seemed to forget it gets cold during winter in Boone and people might need a close place to park. With the closest parking deck 300 yards away, those February nights with wind chills in the teens or lower can be a little challenging for people. It's really tough on older alumni, especially if there are several inches of snow which probably has turned to ice. Not to mention trying to get students to walk 1/4 mile to get there. It was a good idea, but bad location.

Has the conference fallen that far?
Never the less, you can see the difference in the support for basketball between conferences. You can try to belittle it all you want, but there is a big difference in basketball between the two. I've personally witnessed the difference, being a fan of a team that has been in both conferences.
I will, both conferences should be embarrassed at the basketball attendance not beating your chest about it.
I need some context. What was App State's BB attendance this past year?
300 less than 1500....

Were you winning more then or was there just attendance boosts for fans coming out to see bigger names? That's quite a drop. We've had a pretty big drop in lady's bb attendance but the programs also dropped off in performance.
We've been mediocre for so many years that fan apathy built in. Frankly, our fans stopped caring about basketball, to the point that there are many instances in Jonesboro of our own fans not even realizing we had a basketball game
