Sherman Rivers to be a head coach at Patriot HS
http://www.insidenova.com/sports/patriot...a9f1f.html

"Sherman brings enthusiasm, knowledge, and basketball experience to the program," Patriot activities director Brad Qualls said. "He is a class act and well respected in the coaching community. He has been successful as a player (HS/college/professionally), an assistant coach (HS/college), and has a desire, drive, and ambition to bring that success to Patriot as a head coach."

Rivers graduated from Potomac in 1999. He scored 1,193 career points for the Panthers and was a starter on Potomac's Group AAA state runner-up teams in 1997 and 1998. He earned second-team all-state honors as a senior after averaging 19.4 points a game.

Rivers went on to play four seasons at William & Mary. Rivers led the Tribe twice in assists and finished his college career with 925 points, 400 rebounds and 272 assists.

Rivers played professionally overseas before eventually getting into coaching. In between coaching at Potomac, Rivers also spent a season (2013) coaching at the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina.

I remember Sherman -he was still a slim, boyish kid when he left W&M. He had the good fortune
to play with Jimmy Moran and the misfortune to play under Coach Boyages. Wish him well in his
new position.

I met Sherman at some open gyms at UCI when he was visiting his dad in the OC. Later saw him at a game at the Kaplan. A great guy!
