The Hound is back just like expected! And he's gonna kick some a$$!
Cheers!

04-cheers

Now I'm going to have to go back and read the books again to see where I missed that! I loved the Hound, the gruff exterior with a heart made of... well, not quite gold, but something shiny and expensive nonetheless. Silver? Ruby?
It's not explicitly stated that it's the Hound in the books as I recall, but it's not too difficult to surmise when he comes back either.

From reading the books, I got the feeling that it was Rorge (one of the guys in the burning cart with Jaqen in Season 2) wearing the Hound's armor and helmet. Really though, I'm just looking for an excuse to read the books again.

I think he was a big, non-talking brother on the Quiet Isle when Brienne of Tarth visited in about book 4 or so. I think the Hound himself was still around when Rorge was talked about...

I just saw that the 9th episode (the penultimate episode every year) is titled "Battle of the Bastards." Can we just skip forward a week please?

So looks like we won't see Clegane Bowl... at least not yet. Glad we will look to have more Hound in the future. Love his dry sense of humor and his multi-directional moral compass. Cersei seems to be royally f***ed (no pun intended). Hopefully Dany will do something now... like release the dragons and have them burn wooden ships. Arya seemed to move very well for someone with stab wounds and milk of the poppy in her. Glad she discovered who she truly is, and hopefully she can put her new found skills to use finishing off her list in Westeros.

It does seem like CleganeBowl slipped away this episode and I guess that's alright. Would have just been a massive dose of fan service anyway and that isn't the MO for D&D. Sandor is being turned north, presumably to help fight the War for the Dawn in some capacity. The chicken line was appreciated. Of the bandits responsible for offing the Septon and co., Sandor got six. With the death of Lemoncloak, any Lady Stoneheart speculation dies as well. Completely written-out.

I heard a few years ago that D&D said they were not going to have Lady Stoneheart on the show, but with the way events were going this season (Jaime, Brienne in Riverrun; the Brotherhood still Robin Hood-ing around the Riverlands) I allowed myself to believe. Sad that I still haven't learned my lesson after 58 episodes lol.

Cleganebowl looks to be very much in jeopardy indeed. The Hound has to get revenge on the Mountain!! He just has to!
Cheers!

Have to wonder what the endgame for Zombie Mountain is now. If no CleganeBowl, how do you guys think he'll die (again)? I can't see him surviving long enough to go zombie vs. zombie with wights if/when they get that far south in the show.

Roose vs Wun Wag Wun Dar Wun would be even more fun, since Wun Wun would literally destroy him. What are everyone's thoughts on the upcoming Battle? My guess is the Knights of the Vale come swooping in to save the day, since I think Littlefinger had his army on the march regardless of what Sansa said at Mole's Town. I do hope Tormund survives though. He is probably my favorite secondary character left (RIP Hodor).

I have a feeling that there will be a Smalljon vs. Tormund sequence mid-battle. I don't know that it will end well for Tormund. Jon Snow will then take the opportunity to step in and look somber. And then in rides Baelish, safely behind a wall of cavalry. Ramsey gets Stannis'd, then Brienne'd by Ghost.

The character I'm worried about is Wun Wun. They teased killing him at the end of Hardhome (sorta "we just wanted you to know that we could if we wanted to") and I think they might follow through with it this time. Hit the fans right in the feels.

It's almost like they are half doing fan service (ending Arya's storyline, bringing back the Hound, seeing Dany naked again, etc), and half kick the fans in the nads (almost everything else about Arya's storyline, Hodor, Osha comes back and is insta-killed, Summer dies/Bran's warging blunder, etc). This feels like a "kill some fan favorites, but also the Starks win" kind of thing.

In any case, I can't wait for Sunday.

This would make sense, but I hope that it plays out differently. I'm not sure what I want, just something less predictable than that, lol. Either way these last two episodes of Season 6 should be epic

I think the Knights of the Vale coming to the rescue is the most likely scenario...

But I also think there's a chance House Manderly of White Harbor (the North's largest city and economic powerhouse) comes in with the full might of whatever remains of the Northern coalition.

I'd also be okay with a Bolton revolt? Maybe the people of the Dreadfort are starting to catch on that Ramsey is unstable and insane and overthrow him... I think this is a bit of a stretch though... But it seems to me they should be cautious on how much blood is spilled. They need good fighting men for the wars to come!

I would be impressed if there is actually an Ice Dragon and not just legends/innuendo. Maybe NK will awaken one that has been laying dormant inside the Wall and it will tear a hole big enough for the wights to come through en masse. They'll take the easy way out I imagine though, and that will probably be Bran foolishly fleeing south through the Wall via Castle Black and allowing NK and his entourage to do the same. Then one bit of magic jazz hands later, NK brings the Wall down and everybody dies.

What are your thoughts about the Night King taking a Stark as his bride or was it a Stark who took the Night King's daughter as a bride? Someone refresh my memory on that please. I read about it in the "Untold History of Westeros"

Cheers!

Wiki article for the uninitiated:

http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Night's_King

You mean the 13th Lord Commander that did the unholy union thing with a female WW and ruled at Nightfort until the Starks/ancient Northern coalition teamed up with Joramun to erase him? I could see D&D doing another swerve and taking a piece from that book lore, but aside from the NK origin reveal and the fate of Craster baby boys reveal they've kept WW pretty enigmatic in the show. I feel like Bran isn't going to be able to go greenseer to greenseer with NK until the last few episodes of the HBO run, so I fully expect NK to have the edge this season and absolutely "f*** sh*t up" when he ambushes Bran during visions/flashbacks.

If they go that route, Bran will get desperate during the Aerys II flashback when he's trying to change history for the better and prevent the current conundrum. NK shows up in the vision out of nowhere, tries to kick Bran out of the flashback, so Bran tries to hurry it along. Aerys can't fully process it, so all he comprehends is "Burn them all." Aerys II goes mad, eventually gets stabbed, history!

I expect the Greyjoy's to be involved with the fight outside of Meereen.
Few ideas that I've heard amongst my friends.

1) They will attack the slavers before Danny sends down her dragons
2) They will play clean up after the battle is done and bring some slavers to Danny as a token of their friendship
3) They try to help but the Dragon's don't give a damn and burn everyone.

I think the show will continue the trend of embracing chance and anarchy with this one. It would show the Greyjoys exactly what Dany's dragons are capable of and it would show the audience why it was so important for Yara, Theon, & co. to get to Dany before Euron did. I think the Iron Fleet loses some ships to slavers and some more to dragonfire, and that injects some tension into the post-battle meeting between Dany and Yara. (Assuming there isn't a swerve that involves Yara and/or Theon getting offed...)
