What's your angle here? Nobody is actually arguing that "they" should have. I'm guestimating that you're talking about William and Mary here...
I am talking about any CAA school that thinks they have a shot at an at large bid and if they really need to sweat the RPI and SOS crap. I just dont think it really matters because you are not getting in. Win the CAA or go to the NIT is the deal. So either play the in state tourney or not,the RPI should have no bearing on the decision. If you like the idea-do it or not. I like it but I have doubts about it working out if the location in not good. I don't think UNCW should troll the D2 market again but it does not really hurt them-just seems cheesy.

so you see zero way of any caa school getting an at large bid?
i disagree. its hard but not impossible. if coach keatts thought year 3 would be our breakout year, we need a much tougher out of conference schedule in order to put us in the position to have a chance at an at large. that is all you can really do, but if you think your team is going to be competitive you have to at least try.

Last year was an outstanding year for the CAA. Had the chips fell a little differently we could have easily snagged an at-large as a conference. This is Mullet being Mullet. It's not like the CAA has never had an at-large.

This year may actually set up better since there shouldn't be a log jam at the top. In fact, UNCW should be a clear favorite to win the conference. If we can notch just one or two good OOC wins with an overall good OOC record, then make a nice run through the conference and come away with 2-3 losses...then lose the tournament in the CAA championship, an at-large is certainly possible.
I really think this team is going to put it together in OOC play this year. Not as many new faces, and the confidence that comes with the CAA regular season and tournament championships under their belt. We also have Flemmings, Bryce and Ingram as known starters to begin play. Only need to determine who starts at PG and center with some good options for both. I really hope we can pick up either Laron Smith or Andre Washington to solidify post play.

That is the only way it happens and not based on the CAA being good but just the opposite. They will not get multiple bids based on 2 or more teams being really good. I would steer clear of to many bigs but at the same time you can't play a NAIA or D2 and think that the NCAA will just look at your RPI and give you a mulligan on OOC. I don't think at large is really possible for a CAA team at
this point but it could happen. Just win the tourney and move on is the only sure thing.
I think playing the in state could be a fun deal for fans and players,I would not worry about RPI at all. UNCW has no rival in state so maybe do a SC vs NC mid major L4. CCU and COC from SC and UNCW,Davidson would be a good matchup of programs.

Re-seed based on the last year's results and create a play-in scenario to lessen the risk of an RPI bomb
