WM Football: Things to Watch on Defense (Spring Game edition)
The Spring game is just under TWO WEEKS away. As we wrote on the offense last week, it's only fair to highlight the defense this week. With plenty of loses at key positions (Houston-Carson, Rhodes, Claytor), W&M has a lot of work to do.

Young players are hungry for their shot, as this unit will look to improve on last year's mediocre numbers. Check out our preview of next year's defensive unit below! But in the mean time:

Who do people think will take over at the safety positions?
What predictions do you all have on the 3 new starting linebackers?
Will we be able to get more sacks than we did last year?

LET'S GO TRIBE!!!

Nice wrap up. Good insight, I also felt with the talent and experience last year the defense underperformed. Looking forward to seeing some young guys stepping up this year.

Defense is the great unknown this season..many good players to replace.

Will be interesting to see who comes out from spring practice. Possibly a redshirt freshman or two who aren't covered in your recap.

We have lots of offense this coming fall and may see a return to the old Laycock teams where we would win
45-37!

Definitely agree -- betting one or two surprise players for next season. And in terms of the shootouts, we saw a couple of those last year with the JMU and Duquesne game! Perhaps, a sign of the future? I prefer winning 45-7 -- but we might as well keep it interesting and let the other team think they have a shot 04-cheers

I believe this unit, lacking the big names will rally around each other and be very effective.
