Ours should have said something like... do you like to gamble? 8-4 or 4-8 on the flip of a coin by the QB. It would be nice if we could make App work for their win this season for a change.

I've always wondered about that kind of assessment. We had the 2nd rated class in the SBC, but shouldn't the impact of such a class be visible only after a year or two, and not immediately? Or are we assuming these talented freshmen are inspiring the older guys to play better...Our JUCO guys at Troy and USA don't seem to be our highest rated recruits in this years class.

Recruiting ratings are the cumulation of (hopefully) education opinions about particular players and how they will perform in the future. Their value to their team years down the road is just wrapped into the rating of that entire team.
The silly part about quoting Rivals is that they don't even list all the players that should've been rated for the class ranking.

Either way, our path to 6 wins is easier than the last two years. Our path to seven in the regular season is a bit harder. All we need to do is find a QB and we'll be okay. Troy at home and @Idaho are probably the toughest games of our must wins. Completely doable.

The better news is that there aren't any 'must win' games early in the season (other than Nicholls) which might, just might, give the team a chance to figure it out before we hit the games we must win. That, of course, presumes that Jones can keep the team together if we start off 1-5.

I'd be really apprehensive if we started the season with a couple of 'must win' games early in the season.

This is extremely off season. I do hope Troy is a "buy" though because I think their success will be very important to the future of the conference.

The Cajuns are a push at best still unsettled at QB and OL is questionable.

RE: Sun Belt Conference Stock Exchange
As a Jag fan we need to find consistent play. We play down to teams we should beat. We are so up and down. Win at San Diego St and then get hammered at Texas St. Up 31-20 in the 4th vs Arkansas St and lose 49-31. To me it's about consistency. We have enough talent to be in the top half of the conference. Need to play like it.

Now that we have a lean conference going forward there are no exceptions. USA needs an on campus stadium of their own and G state needs Turner field. Troy is and will be fine.

QB will be former 4-star Oklahoma recruit Justice Hansen. Skill positions will be loaded and fastest in the league. Weakness is cornerback, but D-Line should help hide that.
You can take it to the bank that A-State has the most talented roster of players in the SBC to cobble a team out of, and it is not even close.

Of course the defense, which was not bad last year until the injury bug bit them, should be much better.

What is a more import sign of what is to come is that the new OC (who is from MTSU, who was pretty good on that side of the ball) is absolutely giddy about the talent he has to work with at A-State (which is the place people ignorant of the influx of talent think there could be a drop off). He said he knew they would talented just not as talented as they are.

Like last year A-State is head and shoulders better than the SBC teams they play and that is a fact.

As far as the QB position who knows, but who every wins that spot should be a good one. Do agree that Justice Hansen looks like what a 4 star should look like, and is impressing everyone with his talent, and it is easy to see why the folks at Oklahoma did not want him to leave their program.

Don't worry Ark State, we know how you have dominated this conference prior to ever playing Southern in SBC play. You'll understand what GATA means at the end of our contest! Southern fans are growing and expanding (especially along I-95 and east coast).

Can you do us a favor next time and win your bowl game. Trying to defend our conference champs who lost to a girls basketball school is tough!
Try beating Georgia State and then maybe talk some crap.

Well it is obvious those writers know a lot about one team and not much about the others. Wille Fritz and "his" triple option...It was not "his" and we did not run the triple much.

Offseason click bait.

As for GS definitely a push. D should be good like it was for the most part last year buuuut with the same QB's probably the same passing woes we saw last year.

Stuck in neutral until the QB's that were recruited as true dual threats and wr's that were recruited for more than blocking have at least a good year of starting under their belts. So unless the D plays well above last year I expect the same results. A good but not great season. We crush those who cant stop a run game and struggle mightily against those that can. We easily will still make a bowl and be one of the top four conference teams. This should be the last year of the FCS old guard running the show especially on offense. Will be interesting to see what transpires when the first FBS recruits are the only players on the depth chart in 2017-2018.

If I am looking for the best ROI for this year over last it is Troy. First year under a new coach done and good recruiting season under his belt. Everybody else is probably a push as well.

We already defeated them once. Once again, finish the job of winning your Bowl game vs the Lady school and represent SBC. That was an embarrassment to the Conference!

I'm going to have to say Push on my Apps. To improve on 2015 we would have to beat either Tenn or Miami (along with Akron and ODU), run the table in the Sun Belt, and win a bowl game again. Going 8-0 in the Sun Belt would be easier this year with our schedule, and beating Miami is possible but it will be tough. If we can win 11+ with this schedule it will be an outstanding year.

A 10-3 season would actually be better in my eyes than last years 11-2.
